View descriptionShare

At least four people have been killed in Cameroon, as police and protesters clashed on Sunday ahead of today's presidential election results.

Supporters of opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma, defied a protest ban and gathered in the streets of Douala, barricading roads, burning tyres and throwing rocks at police.

Police responded with tear gas and water cannons.

Partial results show incumbent president, 92-year old Paul Biya on course to win an eighth term in office.

Tchiroma called on Cameroonians to protest if the Constitutional Council announces what he called falsified and distorted results.

The results are expected to be announced at 4pm Central Africa Time. Lulu Gaboo spoke to political scientist, Cletus Suhfree
