On the eve of Nelson Mandela Day, a permanent monument honouring South Africa's first democratic president is drawing international attention from the Arctic city of Tromsø in northern Norway. Named iNkundla—the isiXhosa word for "place of gathering"—the installation was created by internationally acclaimed South African ceramic artist and co-founder of Imiso Ceramics, Andile Dyalvane. Commissioned by the Tromsø Municipality, the monument celebrates Nelson Mandela's legacy through a public space dedicated to dialogue, reflection, peace and human connection. For more on this, Peter Ndoro spoke to Andile Dyalvane.
