An Ottawa mayoral candidate is pledging to require one-page rural assessments from City Staff before City Council adopts any citywide standard. Alex Lawson says that Canada’s Capital applies a single set of standards to two different operating environments – and rural communities live with the results. In a sitdown with CFRA’s Kristy Cameron, he says there has to be greater consideration for all parts of the city when it comes to policymaking. He also indicated he would reverse at least some of the recent changes made to parking regulations, citing complaints from local businesses.
