Ottawa Now - U.S. President Trump threatens to ban sales of Bombardier aircrafts unless it moves operations to America

View descriptionShare

Since the Canada-USA trade talks collapsed on August 21st, the Trump administration has unleashed a barrage of tariffs and personal attacks, portraying Canada as ‘weak’ and ‘dependent’. Earlier today, Canada issued counter-tariffs on about $20 billion worth of U.S. goods. And now, U.S. President Trump has threatened to ban the sale of aircrafts from Canada’s Bombardier. That is, unless it manufactures their planes in the United States. For context, many components of its planes are produced in the USA, including its wings. If Trump executed these directives, what are the odds that Bombardier jumps ship and leaves Canada? John Gradek is a Professor of Aviation Management at McGill University. He joins guest host Chris Holski on Ottawa Now.
