A new study from the University of Ottawa is looking into the science and stereotype of ‘mean girls’, particularly how young women are handling situations of social exclusion. Tracy Vaillancourt, a UOttawa professor, wasn’t in the 2004 cinematic classic. However, she is a Research Chair in school-based mental health and violence prevention, as well as the lead author of this study. She joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Meantime, volunteer groups are calling for municipalities in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec to increase funding for neuter clinics. That’s because certain neighbourhoods have slowly transformed into dumping grounds for unwanted cats.
