This week's PODCAST with Mario Corena & ''Vogliamoci Bene'', we welcome and honoured to have in Studio Sanremo special guest Ali Clarke.
Ali Clarke is a prominent Adelaide-based radio broadcaster and media personality. Born in Brisbane, she has called Adelaide home for over two decades.
Ali's radio career began in 2003 when she joined Mix 102.3 alongside Kym Dillon and Chris Dzelde. The trio quickly became a popular morning team, and Ali's natural on-air chemistry resonated with listeners. Ali went to Triple M a few years later and then in 2016 was on ABC where she was very successful.
After a hiatus, she returned to Mix 102.3 in 2022 to co-host the breakfast show with Erin Phillips and Eddie Bannon, later transitioning to Max & Ali in the Morning with Max Burford.
In July 2024, Ali announced a temporary break from the show due to a breast cancer diagnosis. She underwent a mastectomy and expressed gratitude for the early detection and support from her family and listeners . Despite her health challenges, Ali returned to the airwaves in August 2024, resuming her role and continuing her advocacy for early detection and cancer awareness .
Beyond her broadcasting career, Ali is an active community advocate. She supports organizations such as Minda and Carer Support, focusing on helping people with disabilities. She is also an ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Challenge and volunteers for Netball SA .
Ali is married to Matthew Clarke, and they have three children: Eloise, Samuel, and Madeline. When not on air, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring South Australia's beaches and country towns, and engaging in various community activities .
In November 2024, Ali announced her departure from Max & Ali in the Morning, expressing a desire to pursue new challenges and emphasizing the importance of personal well-being .
In this Powerful PODCAST Ali and I have a raw, unfiltered, genuine, sincere, and heartfelt conversation about the highs and lows of her life. We talk about how, as a young girl from Brisbane, she followed her future husband, Matt, to Adelaide.
Seemingly out of nowhere—and thanks to her infectious way of connecting with people—she found herself working in radio and, inevitably, in the public eye.
From the highs to the challenges, Ali has faced it all. She is a staunch advocate for carers, having helped care for her brother Nick, who now lives in Adelaide with their parents. We also discuss her journey with IVF, including the stigma and mental health struggles it brought. But Ali, alongside Matt, believed in the process and has always advocated for removing the stigma, encouraging others to feel that it's okay to pursue IVF.
Then came her confrontation with breast cancer and the ongoing battle to stay strong—not just physically, but mentally. This interview reveals Ali’s remarkable resilience in facing life’s toughest moments, all while maintaining a warm smile, kind demeanor, and unwavering will to live for herself, her family, and her friends.
She is a true hero, inspiration and role model, especially to women and girls. Despite being in the public eye, which often invites scrutiny, Ali remains grounded. I’m proud to call her a compassionate, honest, and true friend.
Thank you, Ali, for being you.
