This week's PODCAST with Mario Corena & ''Vogliamoci Bene'', we welcome  in Studio Sanremo special guest Jono Hart.

Jono Hart is a South Australian entrepreneur and community connector whose lived experience with suicide distress in 2014 and 2015 has shaped the important work he does today. During that difficult nine-month period, Jono faced intense anxiety, depression and financial stress while running his family business and supporting a young family. What helped keep him going was the steady support of his dad, who walked with him every few days, simply listening as Jono worked through some of the darkest moments of his life.

In 2017, after travelling around Australia with his family and launching the Great Aussie Pubs website, Jono realised—especially during the COVID restrictions—that pubs needed better ways to support people facing mental health crises. Drawing on his own journey, he created suicide-prevention education, community support networks, and the GLASS EMPTY Suicide Prevention Signal. This simple system uses a coaster placed on an upturned glass, or handed to staff, to let someone know you’re feeling suicidal and need help. Trained Pub Whisperers or Community Whisperers can then step in, listen, and make sure the person gets to safety.

Jono’s compassion, lived experience, and dedication now help others who may be struggling in the same way he once was—particularly those who spend time in pubs and might otherwise suffer in silence.
