What can we say about Ray? I'm so happy to have met him earlier on when I first moved back home to the Okanagan, and have never forgotten that first interaction.

It was the first of many, and he actually championed pride festival in the past, setup a senior gay men group locally, you’d see him at all the Pride and 2SLGBTQIA+ events and was very well loved in our community.

2 of the UBCO Heat Golf team joined B Mack in studio, after they made HISTORY! 

UBC Okanagan men's golf won the school's first Canada West Golf Championship, after placing 2nd last year. In studio we had Ryan Gillis who also won the individual championship, with a score of 64, sinking 9 birdies, and team leader Andrew Rouble.

Also on the team,Thomas Lemay, Chris Jo, and Kevin Lee who helped with a combined score of -24 through the 36-hole tournament, 17 strokes better than second place UBC.

Check out those hats and medals!!! Congrats, boys... :)

UBCO Golf Wins Canwest - Virgin Radio Oct 12

Igor in South Florida can say he's done that now, playing in a beer league on a team LITERALLY called 'Beer League Leafs', and it's a lifelong memory for him, and his teammates! 

Roberto Luongo came to the rescue for a team facing their toughest competition, without a goalie. And the best part is, other than Igor and team captain Brad, NO ONE on the team knew Bobby Lu was coming to play for them, until he entered their dressing room.

This is a screen shot of the video from Igor on the 'other side' of the dressing room, opposite end of the viral video you may have already seen. PLUS, he sent me a video of Luongo getting an assist on a tying goal, him getting scored on, AND the end of the game where the team got to all gather around Roberto to congratulate themselves on a victory that propelled them to the final championship game, where their ACTUAL goalie re-joined them, and they WON THE LEAGUE! 

Big congrats to the Beer League Leafs on an amazing story, and a championship victory!

Owning a plant could make you appear more attractive on dating apps. In October 2021, a home improvement agency surveyed 1,111 house plant owners in the US, and 35 percent said other people’s house plant ownership was a serious turn-on. 

A researcher at Tinder also found mentions of the terms “plant mom” and “plant dad” were up 15 and 30 percent, respectively, from this time last year, and both terms currently have more mentions in Tinder bios than at any point in 2020. 

At Bumble, “gardening” was one of the top 10 “Staying In” interests added by Gen Z and Millennial users in December 2021. And at Hinge, 62 percent of users who mention “plant” in their profile were ages 20-29.

Happy Transgender Awareness Week! We spent some of our week interviewing several local trans people, and brought facts and knowledge to the general public to help educate those who are confused, scared or even worse, angry about people being transgender, when it truly has nothing to do with them, nor does it affect their lives.

THIS is B Mack's friend Alexa Nerezza, local drag queen superstar, who recently came out as trans woman, while hanging with his friend (at the time) Nate, who is a trans man! They discovered they love each other and became a couple, and now they even perform drag shows together.

My new friend Tessa and I had a fantastic conversation about race, Black Lives Matter, being tone deaf to what's around you, and how we can all come together to be better people.  She even has suggestions on how people, who have been lucky enough to be privileged in their life, can think differently about how race is perceived in the year 2020.

The conversation, as mentioned in this interview, started from her comments from a meme she saw on our FB page. She wrote how the meme came off as tone deaf, and how we could be doing much better in helping the cause for Black Lives Matter. At first, I was very defensive, as I felt I had spent much time trying to explain how offensive 'All Lives Matter' is, and why it's wrong. As a privileged white male, I knew it was a risk to put it all out there, and I felt I had done my part, or at least a decent attempt. So at first I responded saying that I HAD done what she had wanted us to do, but in hindsight, I realized that I didn't know what message she wanted us to get out there. How could I, unless I asked her? So, I did...

Thank you so much Tessa for taking the time to help educate me from direct perspective of a black woman living in Canada with a bi-racial family. Thank you for the conversation, for becoming a friend and for being an advocate for something that is truly needed at this time.
