She has been reluctant to engage in previous attempts to have a conversation about vaccination. Monica expresses deep feelings of mistrust that stem from the mistreatment of marginalized communities by the health care system. This scenario provides an opportunity to practice acknowledging and working through feelings of mistrust to have productive and supportive conversations about change.
