Vaccine Voices is a 6-part audio educational series focused on increasing vaccine acceptance in the long-term care setting through the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI). Hosted by MI trainer Jeff Wetherhold, each 20-minute module features a sample conversation with observations about the techniques and strategies used to foster an open dialogue about vaccine acceptance.

Vaccine Voices Episode 7 A Conversation with Jeff Wetherhold

This episode is focused on Monica, the daughter of a resident in an adult long-term care facility. Monica is authorized to make health decisions on behalf of her mother. She has been reluctant to engage in previous attempts to have a conversation about vaccination. Monica expresses deep feelings of mistrust that stem from the mistreatment of marginalized communities by the health care system. This scenario provides an opportunity to practice acknowledging and working through feelings of mistrust to have productive and supportive conversations about change.

Vaccine Voices Episode 3: "I Can't Afford to Miss Work"

In this episode you will meet Carter, a resident in an adult long-term care facility who has adamantly refused all vaccination since arriving two years ago. He has consistently been hostile toward attempts that the staff have made to speak with him about vaccination. While it is unlikely the the conversation you will hear will change Carter’s views on vaccination, it may be possible to convince him to be more respectful of others’ decisions without challenging their views.
