However experts say while Stokvels continue to grow in this traditional form, the stokvel industry is taking on bigger and more sophisticated investments. Thousands of learners have been left stranded for two weeks as scholar transport disruptions continue in the Eastern Cape. Taxi operators from Ngqushwa have shut down services over alleged government non-payment, forcing school closures and severely disrupting teaching and learning. Parents are calling for urgent intervention as tensions escalate between operators and authorities in efforts to resolve the ongoing impasse swiftly.  Bongiwe Zwane spoke to Eastern Cape Transport department spokesperson Unathi Binqose
