Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni says he survived an assassination attempt linked to taxi industry violence in 2006 or 2007. He says he was shot while leaving a social gathering in Pretoria North, and his friend was killed. Sibanyoni says he later left the taxi industry and worked in trucking for about three years. He says he returned to the taxi industry after government intervened following his media campaign.
