Makhanda high court orders Eastern Cape transport department to develop a comprehensive safety and security plan to protect its passengers and drivers

The provincial Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha is today meeting with the taxi industry leadership, as well as their counterparts in the bus industry, to find a solution to attacks on both local and long-distance buses, allegedly by taxi operators. The most recent incident was the burning of two buses from AB350 in Cacadu two months ago. This meeting comes after a second court order was obtained by Intercape in the Makhanda high court, compelling the Minister of Transport and SAPS to develop a comprehensive safety and security plan to protect its passengers and drivers.
