Gauteng has recorded a 7.9% decrease in crimes, with murders decreasing by 10.8%. This is according to Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni, who released the provincial crime statistics for the 4th quarter of the 2024/25 financial year this morning. Kidnapping and Cash-In-Transit cases increased by 15.8% and 0.4% respectively.

The City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management Centre has called for caution following a severe cold front warning by the SA weather service. The centre's Spokesperson, Sonica Lategan says specific warnings linked to the frontal system include damaging waves, winds and disruptive rainfall. South Africans urged to prepare for another  cold front this week

The High Court in Pretoria has halted the burial of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu. The Zambian government had filed a lawsuit against Lungu's family, seeking to stop his burial in South Africa today. It argued that no burial should take place until disputes surrounding the former leader's final resting place are resolved. Acting Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba read the order.
