David Taylor-Klaus is an executive coach and speaker, as well as the author of Mindset Mondays with DTK. He is the Founder of DTK Coaching, a company that works with teams, individuals, and groups to help them unearth and unleash their leadership mastery. David is a successful serial entrepreneur who served as the CEO of Digital Positions, an internet strategy and web development firm he co-founded in 1995 and sold in 2009. Today, as an executive coach, David is dedicated to guiding professionals to take an active, intentional, and dynamic role in their work and personal lives.
David joins me today to discuss unwritten rules and how they impact society, culture, and personal lives. He explains how conforming to unwritten rules takes so much more time, energy, effort, and attention than going after the change we want in our lives. He describes the cultural stain we have around the word “easy” and society’s tendency to overcomplicate things. David also underscores how we can dig deep into unwritten rules and rewrite them with attention and intention.
“We act in the fear that not belonging means death, so we conform ourselves—that’s the unwritten rule of all unwritten rules and the lie of all lies.” - David Taylor-Klaus
