I’m going to save you a lot of time and needless worry and let you in on a secret that nobody tells you until you become a member of the Dead Family Member Secret Society. The timesaving, worry-saving, and (possibly) money-saving secret is—grief is love. Grief is love’s confusion. Grieving is loving. Now, before you roll your eyes or boo at me, I want you to hear me out.
In this episode, I discuss grief and love. I explain why grief is love confused. I also describe how I’m learning to love my mother in her absence and underscore how grief is learning to love in a new way.
“Grief is learning to love in a new way. I’m learning to love my mother while she isn’t here; I’m grieving her presence, loving her absence.” - Karen Goldfinger Baker
