Singles vs the church: are there simple strategies for inclusion?

I can't stand bulk shopping, can you? I'm Lina Abujamra, and this is today's single Christian. I love going to Costco. The choices, the knickknacks, the oh so awesome samples. But let's be honest, no single person has ever stood in line at Costco without wondering why the conspiracy. No express lines, no self-checkout. I mentioned it to the store manager recently, and he politely informed me that bulk shopping was not intended for singles. Ouch. Frankly, it reminded me what it can feel like going to church as a single. The entire thing seems geared to couples over and over again. I hear it from singles. There's no place for us in the church, but perhaps there can be instead of walking in and out feeling unwanted. The solution may be as simple as creating a checkout line for people with only a few items in their carts. Nothing radical, just a well thought out strategy that takes into account every member of the body. For more, visit today's Single Christian Comm.
