Hour 2 (9.14) The downtown high-speed chase blew right past KFI’s own Michael Monks — he’s on the phone with the play-by-play — while Heather Brooker is in studio after a full day on the Primetime Emmys red carpet, grilling winners and walkers in the heat. Noah Wyle took one for HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” Apple TV’s “Pluribus” and Widow’s Bay cleaned up, and Jean Smart just made history with five straight Emmys for Hacks. Then it’s football pain: the only two teams that scored seven or fewer in Week 1 were Timmy’s Chargers and Bellio’s Broncos, and the Rams are already a MASH unit, with Myles Garrett done for the season after knee surgery. Mark’s never had hair extensions; Timmy almost went blond this weekend. Vegas is printing money on concerts and sports, not just the tables. And the hour turns grim: a McLaren hit a tree in Irvine, killing both people in the car, including 27-year-old James Wehr, co-founder of South OC Cars & Coffee, plus a fire at a Target in Silver Lake.

She’s been down there all day on the red carpet interviewing the stars as they traipse their stilettos, gowns and tuxes down the ruby rug.  

7:20 — Back with Heather Brooker, who’s been standing in the beating sun all day to interview Hollywood’s winners, grinners, gurners and head-turners on the Primetime Emmys red carpet. Noah Wyle won for HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” while Apple TV’s “Pluribus” also took home a trophy or several. Meanwhile, Jean Smart has now officially set a new record, having won five back-to-back Emmys for her starring role in “Hacks,” another HBO Max series. “Widow’s Bay” on Apple TV also won big. 

7:35 — Did you know? The only two teams that scored seven or less in the NFL opening week were Timmy’s team the Chargers, and Bellio’s Broncos. Meanwhile, the Rams have been dealing with several players on the injured list, including Myles Garrett, who’ll be out of commission all season following his knee surgery.  

7:50 — Have you ever had hair extensions? Mark says he hasn’t, but Timmy almost got blond ones installed this weekend. Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, non-gaming entertainment like concerts and sports brings in huge cash to Sin City. And in Irvine, there was a horrible crash, in which a McLaren crashed into a tree, killing the two people in the vehicle, including 27-years-old James Wehr, co-founder South OC Cars & Coffee car show. There was also a fire at a Target in Silver Lake.
