The boys are joined for the final episode of 2026 by none other than the outgoing CEO of the Giants, Dave Matthews.

They discuss the origins of the Giants, his proudest achievements over the past 15 years, where he sees the club going in the future as well as answering listener questions.

TMBG After Dark - With Outgoing GWS CEO Dave Matthews

The boys farewell a cursed season full of injuries and what ifs . The future is incredibly bright though as they look forward to a productive trade season and a new year (hopefully minus the injury curse).

Next week will be the very final episode of 2026 (and possibly of the show in this format) and we will be joined by none other than the outgoing CEO of the Giants, Dave Matthews.

Season 2026 Over

While the Giants got back to their winning ways in grand fashion over Producer Sam's hapless Eagles, their season is now over due to a record number of draws. Thanks Bulldogs!

Alex then tells Brandon the tale of Mark "Jacko" Jackson, otherwise known as Wacko Jacko. One of the true characters of the game, his story is a wild ride to say the least.

Even though the wildcard slot is now off the table there is still plenty of pride to be salvaged over Adelaide in Adelaide. As it is an away game, join us for the final watch party of season 2026 (possibly ever).

We'll be at the Guildford Hotel and the theme for this one is emo, so dust off your eye liner and hair straighteners and get on down to Guildford this Saturday night (8:10pm) to celebrate/commiserate season 2026 with all the best Giants fans.

Wacko Jacko

Forget about the devastating loss to the Suns because from the ashes rises the Phoenix. Get Hard and listen in as the boys interview one of the Giants most exciting young stars: PHOENIX GOTHARD!

That's right, you are not reading that wrong. An actual GIANT came on the pod to talk about his breakout year, the famous draft moment, and what's in store for 2027. This is a really special episode!

The Order of the Phoenix

The Giants secured a much needed win in Brandon's favourite state to keep the wildcard spot open. They now find themselves in another expansion cup which the Giants simply must win to stay within stroking distance (especially because the other two teams vying for that last spot play each other this round).

Alex then tells Brandon the tale of Jeff from finance (Aaron Black) who got to live his AFL dream, albeit just the one time, during the crazy times of covid. He also goes through an article outlining how Giants fans look out for their own.

Jeff From Finance

After another loss to our most hated cross town rivals Alex and Brandon bemoan the never ending injury list as even more of our warriors succumb to injury.

Its at the point where our VFL coaches are having to lace up the boots to make up the numbers at the lower level. This leads Alex to tell Brandon a tale of perseverance encapsulated by Trent Dennis-Lane.

The Walking Wounded...Again!

The lads are extremely disappointed with losing the (ostensibly) un-loseable against Essendon, but thankfully everyone around them on the ladder lost too. Which means the race for the wildcard spot is still on!

Producer Sam puts a hard question to the boys and Alex tells the tail of the short lived Austus (a mix of AFL and American Football).

We're Still in the Race

A rising star is born with a legendary rat-tail, Briggs dominated the ruck, and now Alex and Brandon rave about the incredible performance of the GWS Giants after a fortifying performance against an of-late out of form Geelong Cats. They also rant about the free-kick differential so far this year, which magnets they expect Kingsley to have to shift again this week, and answer your emails about the Bombers and more!

Then it's back to Brownlow for the final part of Alex's history on arguably the games best and fairest man.

Join us at the Guildford Hotel (in the Big Room!) this Sunday at 4:40 PM as the Giants take on Essendon. We will have a Tom Green training jumper to give away, and plenty of spin the wheel prizes.

Rat Tails & Cats Fail

The boys are ecstatic (and Producer Sam too) with the Giants surprise win over the Freo Dockers and dare to dream, are we so back?

They look to the upcoming clash with Geelong and analyse the glut of teams at the bottom end of the top ten to ascertain whether the Giants can still make it (they can!).

Alex then tells the first part of the tale of the polymath and trailblazing Charles Brownlow. Who's so much more than just a medal.

What's the Deal With Mr Brownlow?

While the lads are naturally disappointed in the loss to the Hawks, they can see the green shoots that are sprouting. Brandon predicts 2027 will be a huge year for the Giants and Alex believes a goof run with injury (unlike this cursed season) and some more games in the young guns will see the Giants back on top in no time.

Brandon then gives the history of Penrith, the city at the foot of the hills and how it came to be the rugby league powerhouse it is today.

There's Gold In Them Hills

Alex Williams is a massive fan and ambassador for the GWS GIANTS. His NRL loving mate Brandon McClelland is a sports fanatic, born in Western Sydney and knows nothing about the AFL. Taking his GIANTS ambassadorial duties far too seriously, Alex has now bullied his actor mate Brandon to do a podcast about their journey to discover the best pubs and eateries in Western Sydney to watch away AFL games. With episodes dropping every Wednesday, we see the AFL through a new lens as Brandon questions the culture and obscurities of the game. This isn’t a pod where we just sit and chat through the weekly match ups, it’s built around social activities and engaging with our friends and audience. Let the search for the best ‘Away Venues’ in Western Sydney begin!

We’d love for people to jump on board from the start and follow our journey in Western Sydney. Want to support the show? Got a favourite pub to watch AFL at? Send a voice memo with your suggestions or question to Theymightbecomegiants@gmail.com.
