You get the job. Make the money. Lose the weight. Do the thing. Own the thing. Achieve the thing. Change the thing. Climb the mountain. And then what? Well, you achieved the goal - so now you're happy. Content. Satisfied. Nope, seems not. Not often, anyway. Maybe it's not about "there" (the destination) but rather, "getting there." Maybe it's about the feelings, growth, connections, relationship, purpose, learning, growth and experiences we have along the way? Maybe the summit is what we want but the climb is what we need? Bobby and I enjoyed this one.

Doctor Cam's back and this was more of an interesting chat between two blokes (I hope) than a back-and-forth 'interview', exploring a particular topic. We covered a lot of territory including the science, skills and f**k-ups of parenting (between us we have two kids, so definitely ignore me), how success doesn't always equal happiness (in fact, quite often), the elusive state of contentment, the ridiculousness of analysing the mind with the mind (the tool measuring itself), the determinants of personality (genetics, environment, influences, programming, culture, etc.), our need for purpose and lots more. Enjoy.

This chat went far and wide from NDE's (near-death experiences) to participating in his own living funeral (sounds morbid but was fascinating), to what happens in the brain the moment people die (and just after), to delivering the news to people that their loved one has just died and an incredibly weird (and unknown by me) fact about kangaroos. Following a PhD in artificial intelligence, he has authored more than 50 scientific papers and written widely for publications including The Guardian and Esquire. Matt is a sought-after speaker and media commentator, appearing on outlets from BBC and CNN to The Today Programme. His books include Critical, about life inside the ICU, One Medicine, exploring how animal biology informs human health, and A Second Act, about surviving cardiac arrest.
