Blessings and welcome to you all, beautiful souls. In this episode of the Witchcast, Lucy watches (through tears) Agora, a film about Hypatia of Alexandria, a legendary Pagan (or was she?) scholar and teacher accused of Witchcraft, murdered by Christians in ancient Alexandria. Called by some the first Pagan martyr, the Witchcast explores Hypatia's brilliance, her neo-Platonic philosophy, her discoveries, and the catastrophic rift between pagans - or polytheists - and Christians in the late Roman Empire. Lucy analyses the film’s depiction of this remarkable woman, searching for truths about the Alexandrian age, the dreadful loss of the knowledge within that city's famed Library, and how one bad bishop can change the course of western history. Then, well. You can see there is a huge rediscovery of Kate Bush taking place at the moment. Babushka tik-toks, Withering Heights dance days and the revival of Running Up That Hill - or a Deal with God, thanks to Stranger Things. But did you know that one of Kate Bush’s songs is Magick in practice? Lucy shares a unique song from Kate Bush that is actually a true invocation of four Archangels that you can play to protect and shield yourself. Kate had an enduring relationship with a spiritual healer, whose crone-like wisdom and voice appears throughout her album, the Red Shoes. We move then to Lucy offering readings for listeners, with some very tricky questions answered by the cards, PLUS a reading for YOU. All this, and gorgeous pagan music - this is a powerful episode.
