One to One Africa launches ground-breaking mobile clinic to deliver essential healthcare to remote Eastern Cape communities

View descriptionShare

One to One Africa has launched an innovative Mobile Clinic, a pioneering project designed to deliver essential healthcare services to the remote and underserved communities of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. This initiative marks a significant step in bridging the healthcare access gap, bringing comprehensive medical care directly to the people who need it most.

Operating in some of the most isolated areas, the Mobile Clinic provides vital healthcare services to between 80 and 120 individuals daily across 20 communities each month. It operates from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays dedicated to maintenance and cleaning, ensuring high hygiene standards. On weekends, the clinic participates in community events, further expanding its reach.

A standout feature of the Mobile Clinic is its extensive HIV care and management services, making it the first mobile unit in Africa to offer complete HIV care, including testing, antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation, medication collection, and counseling services. This integrated approach ensures that patients receive continuous and seamless care without the need for multiple clinic visits.

Recognized by the Department of Health, the Mobile Clinic can dispense a variety of medications, enhancing its capability to meet diverse healthcare needs. Health data collected by the clinic will be integrated into the Department of Health's information system, aiding in the assessment of the clinic's impact and supporting future governmental collaborations.
