Listener Ericka wrote into the show last week in response to some stories John and Shari were talking about regarding trans people.
“My granddaughter who is 15 now was born right when I was coming out as trans. I've been out for 15 years and I can tell you that it's a lot more difficult for me now than it ever was. 10 or 12 years ago I could go fishing and hunting in Eastern Washington, and people might be confused, sure I'd get some stares. But I always went out of my way to be as accommodating, polite and sympathetic to other people's sensibilities as possible. I usually made friends wherever I went. It is not like that today.”
Ericka joined the show to talk more about how her experience as a trans woman has changed over the years.
