Our next guest hails from the streets of the West Rand, Johannesburg and started her musical journey at the age of 12 after her father introduced her to jazz by making her listen to the album: “Ladies Sing Jazz”. For her, the fluidity of jazz as a genre gives her the opportunity to share her influences and fully express who she wants to be at that moment.

Before going solo, she was the lead singer of the popular band: Unity Band that has captured the hearts of many avid jazz fans. She has worked alongside Sisonke Xonti, Kurt Bowers, Lonwabo Mafani, Stephen de Sousa, Marco Maritz and many more to build the sound for her debut EP: Umnikelo.

Especially the STEM subjects and how to get more young girls in that field. Businesswoman and philanthropist, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe raises a very important issue about society not doing enough to push young girls to study the sciences. She, alongside Zodwa Mabena and Thandi Mahlangu, graced local and international stages over 3 decades having performed for government dignitaries as well as sold-out audiences. This weekend, they come together again to commemorate #WomensMonth and celebrate the legacy of women in music. We are joined by….

The City of Johannesburg is one of the key metros in our country that’s housing the major financial institutions including the stock exchange. But sadly it is also the municipality that has not been able to allow a mayor to finish his or her term. We’ve seen some of the fiercest political wrangling with mayors removed through motions of no confidence. Two weeks ago members of civil society marched in protest calling on the current mayor KabeloGwamanda to step down.
