As we celebrate Women's Day today, remembering the 1956 anti-pass-law March to the Union Buildings by women from different backgrounds, we take a look at the education side of things. Especially the STEM subjects and how to get more young girls in that field. Businesswoman and philanthropist, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe raises a very important issue about society not doing enough to push young girls to study the sciences. The City of Johannesburg is one of the key metros in our country that’s housing the major financial institutions including the stock exchange. But sadly it is also the municipality that has not been able to allow a mayor to finish his or her term. We’ve seen some of the fiercest political wrangling with mayors removed through motions of no confidence. Two weeks ago members of civil society marched in protest calling on the current mayor KabeloGwamanda to step down.
