Welcome back to another episode of The Space, a mindfulness podcast for everyone. How are your money worries? We know it's not great, is it? Half of Australia feel weekly financial stress. According to a UGOV survey, one in six said they feel financially stressed every day. That's a lot of anxious energy. If you feel like your outgoings are out of control, we've got a tip that could help you. According to a study from Monash University, buying now and paying later isn't doing us any favors. In fact, it's seriously upping our stress levels. The report found just over half of young Australians now use buy now pay later services, but they're extremely anxious about it when not saying it's all bad. There's a time and place to after pay, but before you splurge on more stuff, it pays to be mindful. We love this tip from mental wealth expert Joyce Martyr. Before shopping in person, have the words no thank you on the tip of your tongue. Practice it out loud before you go yes, we're being serious. Before shopping online, prioritize your mental and financial health. Joyce recommends using the mantra I care enough about myself to live within my means. Say it silently to yourself as you select your purchasers. Of course, there are things we have to buy, like when your washing machine dies. If you do pay Lada, do it mindfully, take it seriously, do it consciously. Be grateful. I care enough about myself to live within my means. I trust my smart money choices will pay off in the future. You might not have the lifestyle of your dreams, but living with less anxiety is priceless. Space out
