There is growing push back against a recommendation proposing Victorian Farmers be taxed for excess production and the disposal of weather damaged crops. 

A state government inquiry into food waste in Victoria has recommended penalties along the supply chain to prevent food waste. 

The Victorian Farmers Federation says it is unlikely producers would intentionally create waste.
