There is growing push back against a recommendation proposing Victorian Farmers be taxed for excess production and the disposal of weather damaged crops. 

A state government inquiry into food waste in Victoria has recommended penalties along the supply chain to prevent food waste.

Exports are at the highest level in a decade, with the United States in a herd de-stock period. 

But Rabobank wants Australian producers to prepared for when the U-S re-enters the market. 

Rural Editor Emily Minney spoke to RaboResearch Analyst Angus Gidley-Baird about the role South-East Asia could play.
