Super Bowl Weekend here on the podcast, we're going to do something a little bit different. We've brought Greens in here to the studio. But for those of you watching, you'll be able to watch our Jets overtime special where we recapt the hirings of both Aaron Glenn, the twenty second coach in franchise history, and Darren Mougie new leadership here at One Jets Drive. We're going to get to that in a couple moments, but I want to start with Greens. Exciting times here for the Jets because about a week and a half ago, you give the introductory news conference, you had the Senior Bowl. Last week of Mobile Alabama. It is Super Bowl weekend and I kind of highlight Sunday Night as a great time as soon as that final whistle is blown, because everybody starts to new and for this organization, it is time. This is a new era is at hand.
And also I feel like for the Jets specifically, obviously there's so many questions in terms of the roster that start with the quarterback and then after that, like we don't know what type of players Aaron Glenn and Darrenmugy like or do.
They want to target in free agency?
And the Jets have some other free agents that were impending free agents. Should I say that, like played key roles on this team last season. So yeah, I think if you're a Jets fan, you're obviously excited about the hiring of those two, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done in terms of just a roster management perspective, And you know that starts with Aaron Rodgers. But you know, I'm excited to see how it all shakes out.
He's golfing and zone this weekend.
I know I am jealous that waste looks awesome.
Waste manageers. So that whole is sixteen where the crowd goes nuts.
Yeah, and uh, I think before you know, they tee off like the golfers tee off and actually go about the tournament. They they have celebrities like Rogers and all, you know, golfing celebrities go out there and they kind of like they now to them. They they pump them up, they pump them up. They play a little walkout music. You see if you can stick it on the green.
A couple beverages being had, but oh yeah, spectators.
Oh yeah, I would say a couple.
So ag really set the tone I thought in terms of the quarterback situation by saying that we've texted him and Darren mugiy have texted Aaron Rodgers. Rogers was asked about it at the Waste Management open and he acknowledged that as well. And we'll have to see what happens right now in terms of a timetable, because the combine is a couple of weeks away.
Yeah, and you know, when I asked different people in Mobile just you know, what do you think is going to happen with Rogers, they all kind of defer to Glenn because he didn't tip his hand one way or another. Obviously, they were all saying that, of course there's gonna be a process in place that's decided.
Between Aaron Glenn and Darren Moosey.
And I think that it wouldn't surprise people if Rogers decided to retire. I think it equally wouldn't surprise the same amount of people if he wanted to come back and play, because while the numbers were pretty good for Aaron Rodgers, especially considering his age, his injury the year before, I think that people won't believe Rogers would want to end on a higher note just in terms of a team record perspective.
All Right, So the answer is gonna come soon enough, because the Jets are gonna have to come to their answer, Aaron Rodgers is gonna have to come to his answer, and then we'll find.
That out ahead in the days and the weeks ahead.
But with that being said, mobile, you said you talked to a number of people. You can view some of that content in NewYork tests dot com YouTube.
Also we're writing about it as well.
What's the general takeaway from people inside the league as far as people who covered the league on a daily basis on these two guys and what's ahead?
Well, I think with Glenn, every everyone that I spoke with which was I think we spoke to like ten people. Everyone that I asked about Glenn said that the tough love, accountability, that was one of the first.
Things they mentioned.
So I think that's kind of what they're expecting from Aaron Glenn, which you got a sense of what by his opening press conference that he's going to be, you know, strict, but he's also going to be fair and you know, coach the players up when they need to be coached up, and provide tough love when needed. And so I think that's really the main message that I got from speaking with people down there. With Darren Moosey, I think, honestly, I think people wanted to know a little bit more about him. I think people had all heard good things because you take a look at the resume, he had withstood multiple regime changes, ownership changes, and you know, I spoke with like Tannabaum, who was a part of the thirty third team and the hiring process, and he said that one of the things that stuck out to him about the ownership change is not only did he survive, he advanced, you know, and he kept getting promoted in ten years to go from an intern in twenty twelve to assistant GM in twenty twenty two. You know, I was most interested to hear what he had to say, considering he went through the process with Mugie or the hiring of Movie and Glenn. And he said that he's a data driven approach and not necessarily that doesn't mean analytics, just it means well prepared. And he thinks that the synergy between those two guys is already, you know, off to a good start.
I like what Dan Wetzel.
I actually put this out on Twitter here this week. He had a piece on Aaron Glenn that was really good. He said, everybody doesn't fit with what we do because not everybody can take it.
It's for the tough, it's for the grinders, it's for the gritty.
It's for the guys who want to improve on a day to day basis. And you are never saddest. This guy's the ultimate competitor. He comes in with a chip on his shoulder just because that's the way he is.
He wants to build a winner.
And the takeaway that we'll get into here in a couple of moments in Jets Overtime is not only does he want to build a winner, he wants to build a sustained winner, and why should you believe him. He worked under the greatest programmed builder in the history of the National Football League and Bill Parcells. They did it here. Obviously, it was a different campus. We're back at Hofstra and we weren't in florm Park. But Parcells flipped this thing and ninety eight. He referenced that AFC title game where the Jets have a ten to nothing lead at halftime. Then the wind was not on their side that day. The Broncos took control in the second half. I mean, he still thinks about that. That still drives him. So he was a great player. He plays fifteen years in the league. And we're going to get into this later too. But what he did is an assistant coach. Following his stint as a scout with the Jets, he starts with the Browns, then he serves under Sean Payton and New Orleans. Obviously he goes to Detroit and that Detroit flip was really something else.
And he was a defensive coordinator their past four seasons.
Man, what they encountered last year speaks to how does Aaron Glenn react to adversity? He just keeps his head down and keeps on going because they lost guy after guy on the defensive unit and they still were able to win fifteen games advance to the playoffs.
Jane Daniels Man, he's a nasty player.
That's for another day, but ag his attitude, his mentality is attacking, aggressive. He knows when to love guys up, but he's gonna get after guys and there's gonna be a standard.
Here, you know.
I thought it was interesting because Jermaine Johnson and Quincy Williams were down Radio row and obviously the different outlets ask that those two guys, like what do you think of the hiring, And just to really kind of bring it full circle, Jermaine Johnson went to the Senior Bowl the year that Jeff's Ann Lions coached in it, which means that Aaron Glenn was a part of that Senior Bowl coaching staff and Jermaine Johnson was only there for a couple of days before he decided to pull out of the Senior Bowl because he did such a good job in the two practices. He didn't feel they need to play in the game. Felt like he made his mark. But I think that it's really cool to see because Johnson said, you know, you look at meaning he Jermaine Johnson. You look at the product on what Aaron Glenn put on the field, and it was responsible for putting up in Detroit. What I was most impressed with is how it started, which you mentioned, and it's very similar to what he's coming into now. But instead he gets his hands on the organization in terms of being a leader. And you take a look at what Detroit. Did you think about year one? Yeah, I mean it's incredible and.
They stayed the course too, because it wasn't easy to in that second season either. But again, okay, one thing that we gotta get to is the three coordinators.
The Jets are gonna announce the full staff.
I would imagine it's pretty close, right, But let's talk about the coordinators. Your thoughts on Steve Wilkes coming over, Tanner Engstrand, and then also Chris Banjo was taking over special teams.
I think it's a cool mix of like young, like rookie and the vet type deal because with Engstrand and Banjo, obviously they've never been the coordinator at their respective positions, and if you're a Jets fan, obviously coming from Detroit, Aaron Glenn brings Tanner Engstrand, and you have to be somewhat excited even though he wasn't the play caller. You know, Ben Johnson is well deserved of being the head coach to the Bears to learn under a guy like Ben Johnson for a couple of years and be responsible for their passing game, like he was Detroit's passing game coordinator for a couple of seasons. Well, yeah, exactly, and like influence too.
Yeah, and then he brought him back to Michigan as an analyst.
Yeah.
I think it's cool. I mean, like, granted, you never really know.
I think what a first year play caller looks like in terms of what do they want to do that's their own, what do they want to do based on the influence of in this case, Jim Harbaugh and uh Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell you know to a degree as well. And then with Banjo, Like, I think the banjo story is cool because he's thirty four years old.
Like for someone to be like Aaron Glenn coached him in New Orleans.
Yeah, and then he goes to Denver and where again he was coached by Sean Payton in New Orleans coach and then coach with Sean Payton and Denver Mike west Off connection in there too with the Denver Broncos. So to me, I think it's a cool opportunity, you know, is it. I'm not gonna say like it's a big swing. I just don't think that thirty four year old coordinators are are a common occurrence in the NFL. So I think that speaks to the job that Banjo has done in the oppression he's made.
And Steve Wilks is you know, he's seasoned. So I think not.
Only will it be a good coordinator, he's probably gonna be a good guy to Leno.
He's done it all.
He's been a head coach, he's been an interim head coach, he's been a coordinator, he's been a position coach. Fifty five years old, Angstrand thirty seven years old. I think you just mentioned Banjo was thirty four years old. But there's going to be an experience member on that offensive coaching staff as well, where a lot of people have pointed to Scott Turner, the son of Norv Turner, who, again the Jets have not.
Officially announced the coaching staff.
I think what they're waiting for is Aaron Glenn to in fact fill out his staff, but right now they've announced the three coordinators at this point.
Yeah, I think that, Like when you take a look at the staff overall, like most of it seems to be in place, just based on different reports, and I think that, like I said, it's a cool mix of younger player or younger coaches. Should I say old guys like Steve Wilks who's been around the block per se, And if you're Aaron Glenn, you know, I'm not quite I don't know what the connection is between Glenn and Wilkes, or even if there is one, but I would imagine that aside from being a defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, although he everyone says he's been preparing for this moment to be a head coach for a long time, to have someone that's done it before and be able to rely on when needed seems like it would be a good power Well, you would think so.
Wilke's previous stop in the NFL last year's in Charlotte.
Yeah, they're in the.
College ranks, but he was a defensive coordinator in San Francisco in twenty twenty three, and I think, you know, we'll have to see how it all plays out. But what he's been known for throughout the course of his career as a defensive play caller is bringing the heat, being a big time blitzer. Maybe they played some more for rush scheme there in San Francisco, because of course we've got a lot of familiarity due with that here.
But he likes to.
Bring the heat and Aaron Glenn, if you watch the Lions, they brought it, they attacked, Okay, So we'll just see what happens in the back end. A lot of personnel questions ahead, and again Angstrand, I mean, that was a great staff in Detroit because we're seeing all those guys. It feels like every day that somebody else is leaving Dan Campbell and that speaks to what they assembled there and what they were able to accomplish. So a lot of exciting times here. Final thoughts super Bowl. I don't even want a prediction, but like coming full circle before we get to Jets overtime and our breakdown of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugy taking over here at one Jets Drive listen man around midnight Sunday, night. That's when I say, Okay, wipe it clean. Wipe it clean. Much respect for Kansas City and Philadelphia great seasons. There's only one team that holds a Lombardi Trophy, bottom line. And for the Jets, they're already well underway in terms of their work for next season, because I see a lot of members in the new staff walking up and down the halls right now. So you've got meetings going on and Jets are preparing for the draft and free agency right now.
Yeah.
And if you're again, if you're a Jets fan listen, which you probably are considering, you're listening to the Official Jets podcast, Like, I think that's sure, there's a lot of change, Like to head coach GM, you don't know what's.
Gonna happen at quarterback yet.
Seventh overall, pick, I do think this is a pretty good roster, like that Moogie and Glennon Harritt, Like, it has good pieces to it. And you're talking about blitzing before. I think two players that should be excited about the blitzing opportunities Quincy Williams, we see what he's coming like off the edge, and Michael Carter the second is also a sneaky.
I'm glad you mentioned Michael Carter the second because Steve Steve Wilkes is gonna be playing a lot of nickel if you look at his his background, and Michael Carter the second during an interview with you. That's why people should be consuming the content in New York TIS dot com and YouTube and all our media platforms, is that he has a thorn in his side from what happened last year and he's ready chomping at the bit to get out there in twenty five.
Oh yeah, he said, somebody's got to pay for this, meaning not in terms of the way the season went, his season and the injuries. He's really looking to bounce back, especially because you know he was giving the contract extension right before the season, and as well deserved.
He's one of the best nickels in the NFL. Went healthy, and.
I think that he's out for it and you know, to bring it back to wiping it clean. In terms of the NFL slate after the Super Bowl, Yeah, like I'm hoping it's.
A good game.
And if you're a Jets fan, there's a lot of reason to be excited about this offseason. And you know, I do think that the direction that Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugi will set forth will be a good one. And you know, I think that the Jets will be feisty.
Yeah, And the next time we probably hear these guys speak, it's going to be in Indianapolis that last week of February.
But we'll be back here next week.
But this is how we broke it down, not only myself in Greens, but Caroline Huntershot in a cast of thousands, as we look back right now on a new direction, a new leadership team here at one Jets Drive.
Welcome to Jets Overtime Special presented by Serious XAM To.
Any players that's here now, put your seatbelt zone and get ready for the ride. Put your seatbelt zone and get ready for the ride.
Listen.
There are going to be some challenges, but what challenges becomes opportunity gets opportunity. But here's what I do know. We're the freaking New York Jets, so we're built for this.
And that was a twenty second head coach in New York Jets franchise history. Thanks for tuning into the Jets Overtime Special presented by Serious Sex and we have a great show in store for you, Ethan Greenberg, Eric Allen, We'll hear from Caroline Hendershot momentarily, and let's set the stage. Aaron Glenn Darren Mugi introduced as the new Jets head coach and the new general manager, respectively.
And let's start with Glenn.
He's got energy, he's got charisma, he's got familiarity. But what stands out to you the most about hiring Aaron Glen.
Well, first of all, my seatbelt is fastened. I am ready for Aaron Glenn backcomb.
This is a homecoming for a guy who was drafted in nineteen ninety four in the first round. He had twenty four interceptions here in Green and White. That's tied for fourth in franchise history. He played fifteen seasons in the National Football League. Bill Parcells told him to get into scouting before he got into coaching, and he did that with the Jets in twenty twelve. In twenty thirteen, he worked his way up as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Say and then the Detroit Lions. And this is the place that he wanted to be. Aaron Glenn is ready for this opportunity being the head coach of a franchise that drafted him and Darren.
Mugi is the younger of the two of them. He's thirty nine years old, third youngest GM in the NFL, but he has a lot of experience considering the regime change in Denver, and not just talking about general manager changes, we're talking about ownership changes.
Yeah, that's a great point. Aaron Glenn is fifty two years old.
Mugi is thirty nine years old, but over the course of his tenure with Denver, he worked his way up under different ownership regimes, under different coaching staffs, and again, he just comes from a place much like Glenn that made the postseason. The Denver Broncos did a nice job turning things around.
He'll get a shot here with ag.
And these two actually do have a history together where Aaron Glenn interviewed for the Broncos head coaching job in twenty twenty two.
Mousie was a.
Part of that process and that job ended up going to Sean Payton, who endorsed Aaron Glenn getting hired by the New York Jets this cycle, and those two Glenn and Muzi were introduced recently here at one Jets drive and let's hear the best from their press conferences.
It is one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life to be named general manager of the New York Jets. This is a proud franchise with great tradition and incredibly passionate fans, located and one of the most iconic cities in the world. I could not be more excited to take on this responsibility with AG as we worked to build a championship team that will make the Jets fans proud. And there is not a better leader for this team than AG. And I want to tell a story. I got the opportunity a few years ago. We were going through a head coaching search in Denver with the Broncos and we interviewed AG and at the end of the interview, I'd ask the candidates that'd say, so we get in that first team meeting, what's that message going to be, what's it going to sound like, what's it going to look like? So he pushed back, he sat up, and he delivered a powerful message like when he finished, we're all kind of looking around like wow. And as we went on through the search, because he was one of the first guys we interviewed in that search. We kept going back to it, like, damn, ag killed that thing, Like that.
Was pretty good.
We hadn't seen that. Fast forward a few years later, Thursday, I'm sitting in his office and we're talking, and instantly I'm feeling that again, that passion, the passion for the game, the passion and the care for the players, the fans, his football acumen. It was instant. We got to talking about this Jets team and the vision and the franchise, and we were in lockstep right out the gate, same vision. We were speaking the same language. So I can't wait to work this partnership and bring a Super Bowl back to the New York Jets.
Listen, I want this job. I interviewed for a number of them, but I wanted this job. When I was going to my second interview, I want to make sure this is gonna be. This is gonna be the second, It's gonna be the first or second interviews, because I didn't want to leave the building without shaking Woody's hand and make sure we had a contract. So I'm just telling you now, everything else was really out of it. It's all about the Jets, and it's been that way from the beginning. But I got the job on Wednesday. Mooch came and got the job on Saturday, and we came here on Sunday and we started talking. Here's what I do know.
Aaron Rodgers will be talked about. It will be talked about.
We've already texted our communication with Aaron Rodgers, and as we continue to look at the roster, we'll make decisions accordingly. And that's what a number of people right on the team. I look forward to this. I look forward to it. It's gonna be a great wide it really is. There's nothing better than having your start. Here's a player, here's a scout, and now here's a head coach, and are ready for it. I appreciate it.
It's really interesting to me to hear Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugy talk about each other, really because even though they haven't worked together, you can tell that they're a line and they're in lockstet moving forward.
Yeah, a lot of mutual respect there, and they want success in a short term, but success in the long term as well. And you have to give the Jets a lot of credit here. These were exhaustive searches, but it became clear that the right choices for this organization now moving forward were ag and Darren Mugi.
More than fifteen interviews at head Coach more than fifteen at GM, they land on Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougie, and coming up, Caroline Hendershot.
Goes one on one with both of them.
The Official Jets Podcast is presented by Kendra Scott, The jewelry company That's shining bright and doing good, shop Game Day, Ready, Jewelry Styles and so much more at Kendra Scott Dock.
Okay, the Jets having traded him at New Orleans with the twelfth.
Oh Wowron select a Glenn. The first thing I think about my dad.
The first thing I.
Think was my dad because he was so excited, he was so happy, and my mom was crying.
Listen.
She she didn't know anything about New York, but she knew she didn't want a baby to be around that many people.
And then I remember me.
And my wife looking outside because we were foreign to New York.
Ourselves, the last defender that could have taken him to the ground here in man coverage, the steps in.
Front of but my dad.
That's what I remember here with New York's twenty second head coach in franchise history.
Aaron Glenn coach.
First of all, congratulations on such a momentous day, not only for you but also your family. Now, I don't know if you can really put into words what this means for you, but from playing as a first with this team, first team you scouted for, and now the first team that you will be a head coach for as you reflect on that journey, what does this mean to you?
Listen, this is the greatest story you could ever write when it comes to my life. And you already said it ninety four being drafted here, twelfth pick in the first round, coming back, I think in twenty twelve, the best scout being in house scout for two years, they end up going on the road for two years as a college scout and now coming back as the head coach.
It's not a better fell in the world. And you can't write a better.
Story other than your history with the organization. You expressed that you wanted.
To be here. Why was that? What about this team really called you home?
Listen.
I know a lot of people that's hit in the building, and I know what they stand for, and I felt like it was my job to come in and try to accumulate as many wins as we can and try to build a championship team. No, Woody, I know what he's about, and our conversations have been outstanding and he is committed to winning and we'll continue to have those conversations. And now matching me with Mooge, I think we have a championship calor team that's gonna be able to give us a championship.
Darrenmuji, you referenced him. He referenced you too in that Denver Broncos head coach interview. What about this partnership is going to help the Jets get to that next step?
We see things exactly the same and we have a shared vision on how we're gonna do it. And listen, we're not gonna grill on everything, and that's okay. But the one thing that we have with respect for each other, and no matter what we make a decision, it's gonna be both our decision. If we disagree, we're gonna come out of room, it's gonna be one decision being made. And that's the relationship that we have.
What should players and fans know about your leadership style and your expectations for this team as they kind of look ahead to this offseason.
Well, listen to me.
My definition of leadership really comes down to one word.
That's influence.
And I plan on the influence and every man that's a part of that's football team and everybody's building. Really and I think it starts my character and that's something that I don't take lightly. It is my character and also worth ethic. I mean, you put those two things together. I think when people see that, it's hard not to follow. The expectations are to win, hands down. That's what we're here for, win and winning business. And I plan on bringing after this team.
Now, last one for you. You've played with some legendary coaches. You've played under some legendary coaches. What would you say is the biggest lesson that you have learned from one of those coaches along the way that you're going to take with you into your new role as a head coach.
It's be authentic. Just be myself. Listen.
Players know a fake when they see one, and when you're fake to a player, you basically lost them. So they know I'm gonna be myself or I make motions of my sleeve I'm gonna tell them what it is, so we're gonna go from there.
Awesome.
Appreciate the time, coach, Thank.
You, I appreciate you. Thank you.
Great stuff from Aaron. Glad to hear from Darren Mugy momentarily. But his resume is extremely impressive, considering he was hired as a scouting intern by the Broncos in twenty twelve, worked his way up in ten years to assistant general manager, which is a position he held for three seasons before he was hired by the Jets as their new general manager. And let's hear from Mousie with Caroline.
Here with Darren Muji.
Now, Darren, congratulations on becoming the New York Jets general manager. What about this was the right job for you?
I'd start with I think it's a great opportunity. I talked about the talent that's on this roster right now, and then ag is the head coach. You guys saw that and felt that passion he can lead people. I felt really good about that. Along with mister Johnson and Christopher at the ownership level, we had a great connection. I felt their passion, I felt their desire commitment to win, and there was a lot of reasons, a lot. It's a great opportunity.
You spent twelve years, over twelve years with the Denver Broncos. Now, what of those experience can you take and kind of bring with you to the New York Jets.
Oh, my gosh, so many. To be honest with you, I've been around a lot of great people. There, a lot of great mentors. I've seen a lot too. I've been through a lot of transitions, So there's not just one that I'll bring but many.
Was there any part of you that during this process you knew AG was the head coach and that kind of made you want to come here even more because of your history with him.
I knew he was a candidate and I was excited about that, and when they announced it, I was excited about that because I've always been a believer in AG since that day I met him at that interview, So it definitely had a huge effect.
You talked about the makeup being a very important thing as you look at this team going forward. What are some of the characteristics you look for as you're making up a team.
Yeah, we talk about it, and I want to talk details with the group here as we kind of create our own vision and language. But when we talk about the makeup, we're talking about the mental, the football character, the toughness, the grit, the added to all those things. But we'll have it defined as we collectively go through the process and talk about it as a group.
And last one for you, I know that Jets fans and even the players themselves are going to be excited to see your plan unfold for where this team goes as the offseason approaches. But what are your expectations for this team in the twenty twenty five season.
I don't have any set expectations on wins or losses. I just know we're going to win and improve.
Awesome. Appreciate the time, Darren, Thank you.
Coming up, you're going to hear from Jets legend Wayne Crabbett and the voice of the Jets, Bob was shoosing to get their thoughts on the new hires.
You know, I don't know it sounds silly, but I couldn't sleep last night. Really be honest with you, you, I'm so excited that, you know, Aaron got the job formost of them. You know, I could talk about him as a friend of the teammate. You know, there's so many things that we've been through together. And to start as a scout and come back here as a head coach and to know what it means to win New York, it's just something I wanted to be a part of it. And I was looking at him today and reminiscent and brought back great memories, And just from listening in talking to passion and talking about his faith and his family and everything like that, I'm just could be happier that he's the new coach of the New York Jets.
If you are Quinn or Quincy Williams or Sauce Gardner or Garrett Wilson or one of these guys who want a lot in college, has not one in the NFL, and maybe you're a little disenchanted with everything that's happened. Now, listen to that press conference. Yeah, listen to the message coming from that coach, because it's still human being to human being, right, It's still right a coach sitting across from a player and saying, this is my vision, this is what I think the culture is going to be, this is where I think we're going. I would be if I were a player that was wondering a couple of weeks ago about what is the future, where is the ship headed? If I heard that press conference, I'd be like, oh, okay, yeah, look, I can sit across from this head coach and believe that he's going to get this going in the right direction.
It doesn't take you a long time to be pulled in from Aerica, no doubt.
Yeah, And so I'll be very interested to hear you know, two, three, four or five weeks from now, as you move through the winter head towards the spring, all of a sudden, these guys are back in the building regularly or OTAs and whatnot, and they're around him all the time. If maybe their vision of the future and their future with the Jets might be a little different than it was two or three weeks ago, four weeks ago when the season ended, and maybe that disenchantment was there.
I believe that.
I believe that as far as guys want to stick around, and I think a big thing for our head coach is the way they you know, motivates the team. Uh Like he talks about discipline and being accountable and stuff like that. I don't think it's been like that the last couple of years. Nothing against you know, coaches that were here, but you know you need someone in there that is part parcels and part pon part.
He's a little bit of everybody.
And I think just the fact that he's so many could wear so many hats, and uh, he knows what kind of people to bring around him. Those are kind of players he wants around them because he's been on good teams and he's been on bad teams.
But yeah, he's perfect.
It doesn't matter that he's a defensive coach or he's a first time coach.
Like I said, he's ready. And it's kind.
Of hard to explain what I see in him. Like when we go each a thousand times, we probably wouldn't get each other, and there was no freebies. There was no like I'm gonna take it easy on this one and take it easy on that one. We constantly battled, and it's the same kind of thing. There's gonna be no freebies. You know, you're not gonna get a penalty or do something stupid or this and that and not be held accountable. And we've been lacking that and the discipline, and I think that's something.
He could bring, whether he's a defense or offensive coach.
If you're around it every day, you lived it. Yeah, I'm part of it, but not as immersed as you were obviously as a player, or as you are being here every day. It is different because there's a one of us feeling about Aaron Glenn because he's one of us, right, Like the Jets matter to him. I think it matters that, you know, he was a legitimate candidate, if not maybe the top of the list for New Orleans, came here, want to talk to the Jets.
This job matters.
That is part of his DNA. You could sense it. He wants to be a part of that again. And that's that's a real thing, right Like, I think that that is going to resonate with Jet fans as well.
Coming up, let's hear what some of the national analysts think of the hires of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mousey.
When you talk about a guy that's been in the building, that's bled green and white, that knows what it means to wear the Jets helmet, I think we needed that in the building to change the culture.
Right.
He's a guy that also was an undersized coiner, so you know he's got a scrappy mentality, and I think he'll bring that into the Jets organization.
I do think there is.
A certain relatability that players will have to somebody who has gone through a lot of what they have gone through.
And I thought it was so.
Fascinating to hear a little bit more about how Aaron Glenn got to where he is today. And on top of the fact that he was a player, a first round pick, a guy who was one franchise tag like a successful player at that, you know, his entry point into where he is at now is becoming a scout.
He was as thorough as any scout. He asked great questions, he was very much into it.
It wasn't like a retirement job, and obviously we could see what it led to.
So I think form Muji, there's things we just don't know because he didn't have those responsibilities in Denver. But what we do know is this is somebody that can evaluate and Aaron Glenn can lean on. Because when you're the head coach of a team, you're not doing the college scouting during the season. You need a head guy that could do that throughout the entire fall. So Muji will be really his go to guy. This is an Aaron Glenn focused organization. Now he's the front man, but it doesn't mean Muji is just put to the side. His ability to evaluate will be what determines how they flip this roster around.

Except Yeah, he seems like pretty positive reviews all around for both Glenn and Mugie.
It's a good start for both Glenn and Moogie.
The bottom line is Aaron Glenn's coming in here with a lot of passion.
This is the place that he wanted to be.
He's going to demand accountability from his players, and he is going to concentrate on the small details. Now what him and Mugie have to do right now the cupboard isn't fair. That's why both of these guys are here. They're excited about what's in house, but a lot of critical decisions ahead. That includes what's going to happen with the Jets at the quarterback.
Position and the next tent pole event in which they'll be asked about it is the Combine, which takes place in a couple of weeks, So make sure to stay tuned right here throughout the offseason.
