Why we need sleep and how to optimise it.

View descriptionShare

Todays’ episode is a solo affair with yours truly, and it’s all to do with sleep. We are all aware that a poor night’s sleep makes us feel crappy, but in this issue I explore what’s happening in the brain when we sleep and why there are a range of both short and long-term consequences for our physical and mental health as well as cognitive performance if it is compromised.

I will then go through a comprehensive sleep hygiene protocol that will enhance anyone’s ability to sleep and another that has been clinically proven to help insomniacs as well.

So if you have a brain and you want to optimise it’s performance as well as your overall physical and mental health, this is a must-listen to episode.

Here is a breakdown of the episode:

Start:   What happens in the body & brain when we're asleep

2:20:   The Glymphatic System - the brain's amazing repair process

4:08:   Sleep & cognitive performance

6:46:   Short & long-term consequences of poor sleep - including smaller testicles in men!!

13:08:   Paul's sleep hygiene protocol & the 10-day sleep challenge

27:20:   A clinically proven protocol for insomniacs
