Ruth Wu, owner of Elysian Aerial Arts, joins us to share the complete story of welcoming her first baby into the world—without pain medication. From her water breaking in the middle of the night to laboring at home under the guidance of her doula, Ruth takes us through every stage of her birth experience. By the time she arrived at the hospital, she was already 7 centimeters dilated, but the journey was far from over. After 12 hours of labor and an intense three hours of pushing, she successfully delivered her baby unmedicated.

We also talk about the preparation that helped her feel confident heading into labor, including the parenting book Twelve Hours' Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old, which she credits with helping her baby sleep through the night. Ruth opens up about the realities of breastfeeding, postpartum exhaustion, and the transition into motherhood while balancing life as a business owner.
