Welcome in Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show. Excited to be back with all of you. I was with my kids on spring break last week. Had an awesome time out in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and also in San Francisco, believe it or not, visiting colleges with my oldest and then skiing.
With the family.
I do not ski, Buck, but Laura Travis is an adroit, adept skier, and so are the Travis boys.
So anyway, they were out on the slopes. It was awesome.
I met a lot of our listeners all over Steamboat Springs in particular, which is a big spring break destination evidently for a lot of Clay and Buck listeners. So that was a lot of fun, really cool place I'd never been before, and we had an awesome time out there. So thanks for all the hospitality in Colorado.
It was funny. Buck, my oldest, we were in San Francisco.
We went all over the place, and as soon as we got Steamboat Springs, everybody knew us, and he was like bat dad. Nobody in San Francisco was like coming up and saying hi to you at all. And then as soon as we landed in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Everywhere we went people were big fans, So we maybe need to bump the numbers up a little bit in San Francisco behind them lines there, but all over Colorado, we have a lot of people listening out there all every single day. I visited you in Nashville recently and I didn't even get fully out of the entryway of the airport, like when you're walking and you see the seats and stuff, and we had some clay and buck listeners want to take a photo right away. Yes, I was like, this is God's country, obviously it is clearly, so I appreciate everybody out there. We also want to welcome right off the top here dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of new affiliate stations all over the country.
More and more are rolling in.
We've added hundreds since this show started in June of twenty twenty one. We have surpassed five hundred affiliate stations now, which is a huge number in all fifty states. And again, dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of you are listening for the first time in many different parts of the country, and more of you will be listening in the days and weeks and months ahead, but we all want to welcome you. We try to have a good time here, entertain you, and inform you, and so we are ecstatic to be adding all of you that are listening to us as you start your days here, and we're gonna have a lot of fun with you. Let's dive into some of the stories that are out there. By the way, our friend Congressman Jim Jordan will join us at the top of the third hour for the absolute latest on the budget machinations. I'm sure you talked quite a lot about this last week, Buck, as we every six months or so have the will they or won't they shut down the government story, and inevitably it all gets resolved. He's also trying to get Congress to move on clarifying that one district court judge cannot just override the president on executive prerogative issues that effectively that could paralyze the government, and we're seeing attempts to do that right now, and so there's legislation that is making its way through that the House is working on.
To that end. He could speak about that, he will.
Yeah, we talked, We told everybody this is important. I think Buck that actually opposition to Trump wouldn't be primarily coming from the Democrat Party. Necessarily, it would be individual judges who are with the stroke of a pen, trying to take away President Trump's executive authority. And ultimately we are headed for a I think monstrous decision from the Supreme Court at some point which attempts to lay out the scope of executive authority and judicial review, which, to be fair for those of us who are legal nerds, is a dispute and a debate that has been occurring all the way back to Marberry versus Madison, which was one of the seminal Supreme Court cases in the early nineteenth century. So I think we are headed for a blockbuster Supreme Court decision as it pertains to the resistance in the judicial community, and we'll dive into that as well. Also, Buck is going to fill out a bracket. The NCUBA Tournament is set. Congratulations to fans of the Florida Gators, of the Auburn Tigers, Houston Cougars, and also the oh Man this is now I'm falling aparpuck here the overall number one seeds of the NCUBLEA Tournament, the Duke Blue Devils as well everybody out there. Those are the four number one seeds, my University of Tennessee, fifth overall, top two seed Alabama Crimson Tide. Buck's favorite team as always unless he is endorsing the Auburn Tigers is the six seed out there if you just count straight through four into the top two seeds of the next round, all right, and fourteen Southeastern Conference teams, my buddy Greg Sanki, commissioner of the SEC, having an incredible season. That is the most NCAA Tournament teams, including bucks wife's alma mater, the Florida Gators, who are a one seed.
All right. Now.
The difference in carrying me is Carrie always roots for the Gators, whereas I root for whichever team is most beloved by wherever I am. Or Alabama, if I just know they're gonna win, you are on the You are always rooting for the home team at any venue that you have, you have attended. And for those who don't know, Buckett never been to a college football game until we started doing this show, and now he is a college sports savant. So he's gonna fill out a bracket. I'm gonna fill out a bracket almost all of you out there listening right now, I bet we'll be filling out a bracket. Spoiler alert. I've got the Florida Gators winning the NCAA Tournament. I think they are the best team in college basketball right now. But we will post our brackets for you at Clay and Buck. Buckett never filled out a bracket?
Did you do it? Last year?
Was the first time that you had ever filled out an NCAA tournament bracket in your life?
Is that correctly? Last year or the year before was first time ever year?
So Saint John's, Saint John's New York City also a top seed with Rick Patino in your home state of New York, in your home city of New York City. So the East coast well represented by Saint John's. Also Michigan States, and I'll give the top eight seeds out there. All right, Let's go into this story, Buck, because I do think it's it's really fascinating in many ways. After the twenty twenty four election loss, you and I came on and we said, Okay, what are Democrats going to decide? How are they going to analyze this defeat? All fifty states they did worse than they did in twenty twenty, Trump wins the popular vote. He wins the best Republican election victory when you consider Senate House and the White House going all the way back to nineteen eighty eight. Kamala Harris as one and a half billion dollars buck to spend, which is one of the most dollar figures in one hundred days that we've ever seen. They got their message out. They tried to argue, oh, we have a messaging problem, not a message problem, right, in other words, people aren't hearing our arguments. That's why we're losing. No.
Actually, I think.
The results show that people are hearing your arguments, and that, in fact, is what the problem is. It's not a messaging issue. It's that your message stinks. And so when you look at this, I want to let you hear this. Both NBC News and CNN came out with polls over the weekend that told the exact same story, and that story was the Democrat Party has never been in the history of all these polls going back to nineteen ninety and nineteen ninety two, less popular than it is today. Let's start with the c Repole poll results. This is on air CNN saying staggering brutal reality of Democrat disapproval.
This is Cut twelve, a brand new exclusive CNN poll that paints a brutal reality for Democrats as they struggle to mount a unified opposition to President Trump. American's favorable views of the Democratic Party brand are at a record low, just twenty nine percent. That's compared to thirty six percent for Republicans. It is the lowest ever recorded for Democrats and CNN polling going back more than thirty years. As you can see, the party's numbers dropping a staggering twenty points in just four years.
Okay, that's CNN and might say, Okay, maybe this is an outlier. I think many of you out there are probably saying, who in the world are the twenty nine percent that actually approve this is the cadre of crazy, broken brain left wingers that we talk about on a regular basis. Basically, seventy five percent of the country regil acting them right now. But NBC also had a staggering result, and they talked about it on your favorite show, Morning Joe. This is Mika Brzhinski saying the Democrat Party has never been less popular in the history of their polling as well.
Listen, cut back.
Let's start with the new polling that shows the Democratic Party has preached an all time low in popularity. The latest NBC News national poll finds that a majority of registered voters fifty five percent have a negative view of the party, while twenty seven percent, just over a quarter of registered voters have a positive view of the party. That's the party's lowest rating in NBC News polling dating back to nineteen ninety. Meanwhile, though, a new CNNSSRS poll finds the Democratic Party's favorability rating at just twenty nine percent, a record low going back to nineteen ninety two and a drop of twenty points since January of twenty two one.
Okay, I think there are a lot of reasons why this is happening, Buck, but the primary one is Democrats are wrong on every single issue. And I think what you're seeing is there's a certain legacy approval where people just say, I'm a Democrat, I'm gonna support them. But it isn't that high when you're talking twenty seven percent positive on NBC, twenty nine percent positive on CNN, and both to post record lows at the exact same time they have nothing to offer their own side at this point in time, which I've never seen anything quite like this before. Yes, they just lost, but they lost in twenty sixteen, and that was emotionally devastating for them. Nonetheless, right away, I mean after election Day, the maniacs were in the streets, truly in the streets. I saw them in New York City hashtag resistance. We're gonna We're gonna do everything. We're gonna have the media and the intelligence community and and everybody working to hamstring Trump in every way possible. Don't worry. They promised, will make sure that we get revenge on him, will stop his agenda and get revenge on him. Well, guess what. They can't stop his agenda really now. The only thing they've been able to do is with the judges. They can't stop him from becoming president anymore. And I think there are days of promising that Trump is going to pay the price for standing in the way of the left wing destruction of the country. I think those days are gone, and I think that what we're seeing is the recognition among the left wing home team that the people that they've put on the field have absolutely failed them. I have not seen anything like this since Obama beaten McCain in two thousand and eight. And even then, it wasn't long before Obama's radicalism and the recognition of the growth of government led to the Tea Party, and you know, things got going very quickly. Maybe the Democrats will get their act together this time around, Clay, But I think the problem is they can't even find people to rally around right now. Actually, step back from that, they can't find ideas to rally around. Yeah, that's you know, okay. Obama won in two thousand and eight. You had a huge financial collapse, you know, the problems of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He was very lucky with the timing in a lot of ways. He comes in. Republicans still believed in what they had believed in before. Maybe they'd learned some painful lessons about interventionism, but it wasn't oh my gosh, nobody thinks that we should have a secure border. In fact, Obama won on traditional marriage and a secure border and cutting waste in government. He pushed ideas to become president that he didn't believe in at all, but those were popular ideas. The problem Democrats face right now is the party was hired, Their party was hijacked.
Meaning they were in control. Right It wasn't just a faction.
The faction had seized the cockpit of the plane by the lunatics, and they won't move off these lunatic ideas. The ideas are not popular that they push. Can let's talk about this when we come back for a moment. Can you think it's it's unheard of, I think for a party to destroy itself like this such that.
Can you even think of anything that.
Democrats are right on right now? I mean, it's fairly commonplace for people out there to say, hey, you know, I agree with the Republicans on this, the Democrats on that. That's how elections are decided. Right now, I can't even think of anything that Democrats are right on right now where I look at it, you know, say, hey, you know what, maybe the evidence, maybe the data, maybe the argument itself is a little bit more on their side than on.
The Republican side.
I don't even know where they fight right now, because they're fighting on such unpopular ground that the vast majority seventy five percent of Americans roll their eyes at. Trump has absorbed some of the best ideas that were not left wing entirely but had a lot of support on the left. Ideas like hey, the working class in this country needs to not be fed into the financial wood chipper so that we can get cheap stuff from China. Right, that used to be more of a center left issue in the Bush era Republican Party. When you say this, now, I think there's always this rejection. Oh no, that's not no, No, I'm not talking about Trump's Republican Party, which is what it has been for a decade. Now, I'm talking about before that, even some of the health stuff. Look at RFK Junior, look at non interventionism, non interventionism which I think Tulsi Gabbard represents in some way in this new Trump administration, among others. But Clay, non interventionism used to be considered part and parcel of the peace movement in many ways in this country, right or the people that like the code Pink types almost And now we know that was all a fraud. Whole other conversation, So yes, we will talk more about about that. And also team pulled Bill maher Batia sunger Argum. Did you see I saw it over the weekend. Yes, we should pull that if we don't have it. She talked to Bill said, don't you regret voting for Trump? And she just which I was shocked he went in that direction, because no, actually, Trump voters are all doing backflips. They don't regret it at all. They the problem is they're hoping they don't pull a hammy when they do the backflip. Like I've never seen so many happy Trump voters in my life. We should get into that here and just a little bit. You know, there's a compelling video online that talks about a prediction, a prediction of disruption to our economy in the future. Look, I'm hoping it doesn't happen, but I certainly trust the person who made the prediction because it's my dad, Mason Sexton Senior. This is my father's area of expertise the financial markets and how they affect everyday Americans, and I think it could be really helpful for you growing up. My dad was a stock market guy, and he became famous when I was a kid back in the eighties for calling the crash of eighty seven in advance on TV. He nailed it, and since then he's been advised some of the biggest hedge funds in the world. Now he's come out publicly with another major prediction. Welcome back into Clay and Buck.
We're talking about the fortunes of the Democrat Party and the Republican Party simultaneously. And Clay, you know, not only we should dive into this some more. Not only are the Democrats at the lowest point that they have been in the history of this kind of pulling, Trump is at his highest approval rating. So to our point before about the sense of despair, the del it's just despair that is growing among so many Democrats and activists and lunatics who have been doing so much to harm this country for so long. Clay, It's one thing when your party's in a rough spot. It's another thing when the party is that that opposes you is in its best position, right, So you really have to look at the at the full gap between the two. It's not even just Republicans are at all. I'm sorry, Democrats are at an all time low. Trump is at an all time high right now. It is really extraordinary. And you know, again I've been saying for a while, and I think it's true. We're not just talking to right wingers on this show. We're talking to seventy five percent of saying Americans. There's about twenty five percent of people out there that have lost their minds. Trump is speaking to the other seventy five percent. And I know there are a lot of you out there right now who weren't Trump voters in twenty sixteen that are listening to us right now, and you're saying, hey, keep killing it, including on the border, where the numbers are incredible. Look, a couple of things in life are certain death and taxes. Now there's a third Verizon AT and T or T Mobile. You're paying too much with them. My two sons have a Puretalk phone. You can have one two Puretalk Pound two five zero, say Clay and Buck. Welcome back in Clay, Travis Buck Sexton show. We got a lot to talk about Venezuelan, big time bat over the deportation of those illegals. We'll get into that, Buck, did you see this just happened? I think that like the last half hour, the White House has released a video to closing time which has the memorable line you you know, uh, you don't have to stay here, but you can't. Oh sorry, you don't have to go to stay here?
Yeah.
Yeah, of the Venezuelans being deported. It is going to go viral on a level that I'm just telling you it is amazing, whoever whoever on the social media team at the White House, and it's from the White House official account, And in fact, let's let's dive into that here for just a sec because I do think, Buck, this is going to turn into a big, a big storyline going forward. For those of you over the weekend who were not aware, there were two hundred plus violent rapist felons, criminals who were illegally in the country, many of whom were Venezuelan gang members, and Trump put them on a plane to deport them. And as they were being deported, a federal district court judge came out and said, no, you can't deport these guys. You have to bring them back to the United States. The Trump team because the flight, they said, had already reached international waters. They said, no, we're not going to comply with this federal court district Federal district Court judges order, and they deported all of the two hundred to I believe Nicaragua, where they have been taken into a prison. Now in university. I thought it was because my apologies, okay, we have talked about this before.
Buck.
When I practice law in the United States, Virgin Islands. The prisons that exist in the United States Virgin Islands are terrifying. That is still under the United States flag, but you do not want to be in an outside of the continental United States prison prisoners get scared when they find out that they are going to be put in prisons like these in El Salvador as just happened. And so there is going to be a major court battle over this and other issues because many of these federal district court judges have decided they are the resistance to the Trump regime. But we just talked about the fact that the Democrat Party's overall favorability has collapsed to levels never seen before. And right now the district court judges, many of them appointed by Obama, they are the front lines of the resistance and they are trying to stop what Trump is doing. We're going to talk to Congress and Jim Jordan about that in the third hour and what can be done or what Congress is trying to do on that. But first I think this you're laying this out, but this new approach to dealing with Remember, these are criminal, illegal aliens in this gang, which is a designated terrorist organization, and the Trump administration is using a long standing power of the President of the Alien Enemies Act to deal with them so effectively. If you're an illegal alien and you're a part of al Qaida, or you're a part of Trenda Aragua, you could find yourself sent down to Al Salvador, to this particular prison. Keep in mind, Al Salvador now very safe place with a very happy populace. It's not like you're being sent to some country that is a mess and has this huge crime problem and it doesn't have those things. Because of the giant prison that they've put all these different gang members into. Buquale has created this system where if you think you're going to prey upon the citizens of Al Salvador as a gang member anymore, you're going to find yourself in this prison. It's going to be miserable and a lot of them are never getting out. A lot of them have done absolutely horrible things. But Marco Rubio put this out. He said, we have sent two dangerous top MS thirteen leaders, plus twenty one of its most wanted back to face justice in El Salvador, as promised by the President. We sent over two hundred and fifty alien enemy members of trended Aragua, which Al Salvador has agreed to hold in their very good jails at a fair price. That will also save our taxpayer dollars. President Buqueli is a strong leader, he's also a great friend, so this is also Doge approved. It will save money. The amount of money to send these people to prison in the US is a tremendous amount, by the way, per person, so a lot cheaper in El Salvador. Well, this also puts Democrats in a really challenging position. Are you going to come out aggressively and say, hey, the illegal, violent felon criminal gang members have to be brought back to the United States, or are you going to just kind of pretend that this story doesn't exist. Or and this is the pathway that I think they're going to take Trump Buck. I think they're going to argue that Trump is a fascist dictator who is not obeying the rulings of the federal judiciary and that as a result, this is a sign of his overreaching power. Now they're going to try, I think, to make that argument without looking at the underlying decision that was made by this Federal District Court judge and larger picture this is and this is what we're going to talk with Jim Jordan about. This is a really significant issue regardless of who the president is. And we talked about this Buck when there were a lot of federal court and also circuit court, which is the next level up judges trying to look at what was going on with the border. Do you remember this, and they were getting struck down eventually because they were saying, well, the president has the right to make policy as it pertains to immigration, individual states don't. There were lots of battles between the State of Texas and the Biden administration. Now all of these same judges are lining up and saying, well, the president really doesn't have authority to do this, and instead, I, as a just a federal district court judge, and there are hundreds of them, I'm going to stop the entire executive branch from acting based on my individual decision. And even if they later get overturned, as is often the case, they can really stop the gears from turning for months. And this is what the resistance is really going to look Clay, because they know, and this is important that if the House flips back to Democrat control in twenty twenty six next year. Basically, Trump's ability to get anything through Congress is going to be limited, and they're just going to try to run out the clock on him. Which is why Trump needs to be as he is moving so rapidly because there are going to be so many impediments put up against him. This also you're seeing in the way that the judges now are going to clay. I think people are talking about bringing you know, impeachment hearings now. It's not going to work because you have to get to a threshold. We don't have the Senate threshold to do it. But there's a lot of anger when you see what's going on with some of these resistance judges. And there are also people who at every time during the first Trump administration are federal judges of lifetime tenure. They've been doing this nonsense the whole time. Fifteen judicial or universal injunctions in the first or in one month of Trump's first term, versus fourteen in all or I believe, in three of Biden's four years. So you can either go one month of Trump or three years of Biden the same number of judicial injunctions given with you know, universal universal hold.
On things, which is crazy.
It's just it's just absolutely nuts and something needs to be done about it.
Uh.
And then there's also Trump voiding the pardons.
Of which we should get to the Auto Department is very very autopens. We'll discuss that in a little bit because we're still on the judges right now.
But what really is the is a judge allowed.
Is a federal judge supposed to be able to say that, let's say, Trump couldn't have couldn't have ordered those strikes on the hoo thies. Can a federal judge just enjoy the president sor you can't do that. You're the commander in chief, but you can't order a strike on an enemy combat and abroad because of blah blah the constitution or something. If that's the case, we actually no longer have a presidency, right And the fact that eventually the Supreme Court would overturn that judge is not good enough. Yeah, I'm really curious what Jim Jordan, who's going to join us at the top of the third hour, is going to argue here. A part of me thinks that we should, maybe when it comes to presidential authority, require multiple judges to sign off on a decision such as this. In other words, giving any individual judge the ability to enjoin, that is, stop a president from undertaking an action under his executive authority when there are hundreds of them is far too much power, I think for an individual district court judge to have. And the reason a lot of these decisions get overturned is they eventually go to the circuit court. And there are thirteen circuits all over the United States on a federal level, and that requires multiple judges to act, And so a part of me wonders whether we should have a system where, let's say, three judges have to all look at something when it comes to enjoining the president's actions and undertaking that action, as opposed to one. Now, well, this actually come. These these federal judges are all a creation of Congress. So the notion that they could be coequal with the president, I think is inherently flawed to begin with. The only one that's constitutionally in a position to enjoin the president should be the Supreme Court. Well, it is super interesting, right, because I do think sometimes, for instance, we told you birthright citizenship is such an expansive undertaking that you would want that to go to judicial review, and the fact that federal court judges are enjoining it actually makes sense it's going to go to the Supreme Court. Where I think it gets more challenging is in individual presidential decisions of executive authority, like on a border related issue. Hey, I'm deporting two hundred and fifty violent Venezuelan criminals and we are sending them to El Salvador. That should be within the province of the president's executive authority. The fact that individual actions like those are being enjoined to me is a direct attack on the executive authority of the president by an unelected federal district court judge, of whom there are hundreds. So at least if you required three judges, for instance, to sign off on an order, it would create more understanding. But again, I think this is an example of the direct conflict between judicial oversight of executive authority. How much can a court micro manage the power of the president And what percentage of people do you think are in faith of two hundred and fifty some odd violent felons who are illegally in the United States being sent out of the country. This is a strange I think this is a great ground for Republicans and Trump to fight on, and I think it's an awful one for Democrats, which is why I'm curious how they're going to respond.
Overall.
Let me tell you, after more than a year of war tear pain in Israel, the need for security essentials and support for first responders still critical. Even in times of ceasefire. All right, welcome back into Clay and Buck.
We're gonna talk here at a moment about the auto pen controversy, with Trump now saying that the pardons of Elizabeth Cheney of Hunter Biden will maybe at no Hunter, I think was he knew about that one. But other pardons Fauci's pardon invalid if they were signed by the president without proper process and not actually signed by him. So that's the key then that that creates an issue.
So we will we will dive into that.
We'll also get to some of your talkbacks on the rest of it. Also, say, Clay, I had a great time up in up in Virginia, actually in North Carolina. Started out in Virginia doing some training with GBRS group. We got to get you up there, man, this guy DJ Shipley of Stealed Team six.
You guys are advanced. This is like.
Bringing in in terms of I saw the pictures in some of the video and stuff like, I feel like I'm so far behind on the shooting universe. This would be like Michael Jordan trying to train someone how to play basketball who never picked up a basketball before. It is Michael Jordan's training people, but he's He's incredible. The whole GBRS team. DJ and his team are absolutely amazing. If any of you, and for any of you are active law enforcement, by the way, if you have any training budget to go and do what they're doing. I'm just telling you, I've done a lot of different training a lot of places. I used to train in the CIA. We had unlimited budgets, unlimited AMMO. We could do whatever we wanted to do in terms of the training. G b r S dot Com gbr S group. They were absolutely phenomenal. My brothers and I went. DJ Shipley's an awesome guy and it's just an incredible experience. So any of you who are big and they will they will do courses for civilians. Now, any of you who are really into your shooting and you want to you know, tactical shooting, and you want to improve of any skill and I mean any skill level, like if you they they trained SWAT teams, they're training their training with Tier one elements. I mean, these guys are incredible. So yeah, I was just trying to do what they told me and keep up. My brother the same thing was amazing and a DJ Shipley is an incredible guy, so highly highly recommend. And also you know they've got a lot of cool gear up on the site at gb RS dot com. All right, so Clay, we will dive in shortly here to the auto pen controversy, but I'm going to start another controversy with you real quickly.
You liked the most recent White Lotus episode.
I I I can't even.
With this is a family show.
I can't even tell people what happened on this episode and the things that were being talked about.
