Gai grew up around Australian racing royalty as the daughter of legendary trainer Tommy TJ Smith and over her career has become racing royalty herself.

Then in October 2018, she was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame joining her father to become the only father-daughter members.

Gai is also an Australian Living Treasure nominated by the National Trust of Australia.
