In this episode, Grant Johnstone is joined by one of Victoria’s most prolific news anchors for Channel 7’s Nightly News – Peter Mitchell.

Peter has been involved in television news for more than 40 years as a reporter, producer, writer and presenter, and producer.

Growing up locally in Victoria, peter always had a love for all sports, including cricket and football leading him to his first sports anchor in 1977. In 1982, Peter became a general news reporter and in this position, he covered many stories including Victoria's horrific Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983, leading to his prominent role as the weekend news presenter and weekday news reporter at HSV 7 in 1987.

Peter has been the weeknight anchor for Melbourne’s Seven Nightly News since 2001, etching his space as one of Australia’s most renowned and celebrated news anchors.

His iconic Australian songs include titles such as ‘So Young’, ‘Hit And Run’, ‘Shape I’m In’, ‘Hold On To Me’, ‘Harley and Rose’, ‘Chained To The Wheel’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’, and he recently celebrated the release of the 50th record, the Black Sorrows album ‘Saint Georges Road’.

Sunday Celebrations - Joe Camilleri

In this episode, Grant Johnstone is joined by singer, actor and TV presenter -  Frankie J Holden. 

During the course of his diverse career on stage and screen, Frankie J Holden has become a household name. 

He began his show business career with the legendary rock group “OL’55”, one of the most successful Australian recording acts of all time, before creating some of Australian television’s most memorable characters through leading roles in long-running serials: Blue Heelers, Police rescue, Underbelly and more recently playing the fantastic character Roy Briggs on A Place to Call Home which earned him the Most Outstanding Supporting Actor at the 2019 Logies. 

In 2016, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the arts as an entertainer and to the community of the Sapphire Coast. He has worked in various television presenting roles and appeared in over thirty films both here and overseas and still performs across the nation.

The Coodabeens have built a remarkable following since their program first aired on 3RRR in 1981. 

Over the four decades since, they’ve also established a reputation as broadcasters, authors, podcasters, live performers and all-round entertainers. The Coodabeens are a household name, not only in Melbourne but right across the state.

The Coodabeens are currently enjoying a short 20-week end-of-season break, after which you can listen to the Coodabeen Champions Fridays from 4-6pm on 3MP and across the ACE Radio network starting in March 2022. The program will also be available via the 3MP app and as a podcast.
