A new report warns Australia will be unprepared for near-term conflict, Victoria's Deputy Liberal Leader is facing questions about his use of travel expenses. Plus, a man has been charged with murder in the Gold Coast.

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute says prioritizing long term defense plans like ORCUS has left the Defense force with limited ammunition stock and a lack of critical defense systems. Prime Minister Anthony Albanesi has criticized the findings of the report.

Victoria's deputy Liberal leader is facing questions about his use of travel expenses. Sam Groth, who also serves as the state's shadow Sports Minister, has claimed travel expenses for trips including the Australian Open and a visit to Adelaide for the Live Golf tournament. Mister Gross says the trip was in line with his portfolio's responsibilities and will declare his expenses in line with the rules. Premier to Cinterer Allen says he needs to show how his use of public funds is appropriate. An urgent amendment is being pushed through Victoria's parliament to ensure newly appointed Police Commissioner Mike Bush is eligible for the job. The amendment to the Victoria Police Act twenty thirteen seeks to ensure the Chief Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioners can be someone who is not an Australian citizen. The Premier is adamant the changes are administrative. A man has been charged with murder after a thirty five year old was found dead in a hotel room in the Range on the Gold Coast. A cleaner found Matthew Pasco unresponsive on the floor of his room at the Hinterland Hotel around eleven fifteen am on Saturday. Authority is arrested and charged a thirty four year old at Narrangman last night. His case was mentioned in Southport Magistrate's Court today, no application was made for bail. Australian TV personality Magda Zabanski has announced she is undergoing treatment for cancer. The sixty four year old says she has been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer.
