Talking Women's Heart Health with Dr Swati Mukherjee, Melbourne based Cardiologist

Given that heart disease is the single largest killer for Australian women, three times that of breast cancer – a total of 9000 women died in 2018 due to Cardiac Health related issues, Dr Swati Mukherjee has special interest in interventional cardiologist specialising in coronary intervention and heart disease in women. 

As one of only 17 female interventional cardiologists in Australia and New Zealand, she is part of a national leadership group working towards gender equity in cardiology. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Monash University, and a Supervisor of medical students at the Notre Dame University at Cabrini. She completed her PhD at Monash University and training at The Alfred and received a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at The Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, UK.

  3. What women can do to reduce the risk of heart disease.
