The National Health Department has warned of a rising rate of mortality from Non-Communicable Diseases with significant increases in deaths due to cardiovascular diseases, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases. According to Stats South Africa, NCD's account for 57.8 percent of all deaths, with 60 percent occuring prematurely before the age of 70 years.
