The fraud case against Northern Cape's acting HOD for the health department, Dr. Deon Tuys has been postponed to the 9th of June this year, for pre-trial consultation. Tuys briefly appeared in the Kimberley magistrates court today. He was arrested by the Hawks earlier this month for allegedly contravening the Public Funds Management Act pertaining lease agreements of nursing homes amounting to 96 million rand in 2014. It is exactly a year since the Covid 19 National Disaster was declared. This led to the pronouncement of a national lockdown, which started with strict regulations. Most businesses were completely shut during the hard lockdown. Sewage spilling into houses and shacks, and lack of basic services has led to Roodepan residents near Kimberley to go on a rampage.
