On September 23, 2014 Officer B and his colleague, Officer A, attended outside of the Endeavour Hills Police Station to speak with Numan Haider. A young man who due to rapid radicalisation within months was influenced by and prepared to kill and die for Isis.
12 seconds was all it took to leave both officers bearing stab wounds and Numan Haider shot dead by Officer A. Officer B joins me today to recount not only those 12 vivid seconds, but also the events leading up to the encounter along with the mental and emotional recovery left in it's wake.
This conversation really opened my eyes to the reality behind what flashes up on our news channels... humans are impacted, lives are changed, and the ripple effect is heartbreaking.
