Governance, accountability, and ethical leadership in the spotlight after the removal of MMC Kholofelo Morodi

View descriptionShare

Recent developments in Tshwane have once again placed the spotlight on governance, accountability, and ethical leadership. The removal of MMC Kholofelo Morodi, following concerns raised during the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, has sparked important questions about political responsibility. Morodi was first suspended and then removed after allegations linked to tender irregularities and concerns around her conduct, including engaging outside formal governance channels.

What’s also significant is that ActionSA not only supported her removal but has since moved to terminate her membership after an internal disciplinary process, saying it is committed to acting decisively when ethical standards are compromised.

So, what does this tell us about ActionSA as a political party? Does this swift action demonstrate a genuine commitment to ethical leadership and accountability or does it raise further questions about internal oversight and candidate vetting?

As we approach the next local government elections, these are critical issues for voters trying to determine which parties they can trust to govern responsibly. We speak to Political Analyst, Thobani Zikalala.
