US and Ukrainian envoys say talks in Miami have been constructive, despite no major breakthrough reached on ending the war in Ukraine.

Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Ukraine’s top negotiator Rustem Umerov said discussions focused on security guarantees and a broader peace framework.

Separate meetings have also taken place between US officials and Russia’s envoy, with Washington saying Moscow remains committed to talks.

The negotiations follow controversy over a leaked US peace plan seen by Ukraine and Europe as favouring Russia, which invaded Ukraine nearly four years ago.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for more diplomatic pressure on Russia.
