Safair’s flights under threat after regulator rules it violated foreign-ownership rules

FlySafair's international operations are under threat after the International Air Services Council (IASC) ruled that the airline's shareholding structure violates foreign-ownership limitations in licensing regulations."The IASC has concluded that FlySafair's shareholding structure, particularly regarding the involvement of Irish-based ASL Aviation Holdings, is not compliant with the regulation surrounding foreign control limitations," said Safair in a statement after the ruling on 1 November.A 2019 deal by ASL to acquire an effective 74.86% ownership stake in Safair, the parent company of low-cost airline FlySafair, is the source of the regulatory issues.
