Point Guard is a production of My Heart Radio. I wanted somebody to say like, oh man, you ain't got a little bit y'all, Like that's Guy gave us this gift kill You always gave us this gift of you. Hey man, it's the point Guard podcast show, and I got point guys talking about me. This is about y'all, the pioneers, y'all, the pioneers. Man, y'all, y'all's coming. There were flipped it on him. Now we're gonna get him his stuff, you know what. So like in college, in college, before every game, I was watching beds highlights like we're still trying to find out who happened. But the thing is, that's how inspired I was to be like my brother like it's like yo, like I gotta watch this. Then as I'm watching that, it was on something I gotta I gotta copy that in the game. So so when I was watching be so much, I wanted somebody to say like, oh man, I got a little bit in that. So like that's so that is why I always tell Boom, this is that's why we are how we are, Like Guy gave us this gift of talent. You always gave us this gift of you, and that's why we have this sixteen year crew. Year and that's that and and last year and I'll be playing with ge League and night you know that is back and I'm this year that like, that's what it's about. Yeah, you you showed us. Man one I gotta say, because y'all are my favorites. You understand what I'm saying. Jamal Crawford, I want to tell you he went to Dorsey High. He was in backcourt with Lamont Frasier. When I seen this dude move. I said, oh shit, I said this mother, this skinny motherfucker can go. Dude, Hey, dude, hey bro, you already had man, you already had a bob. It was so cold, like like how is he moving like that? You know what I mean? I'm fucking with him. I remember going to UH. I got invited to the n b p A camp or something like that. UH in Princeton. But we was playing in the Watch Summer Game. Remember that Crossroads who was in the Watch Summer Games? And I stayed after I stayed to watch you and Lamart play when y'all when we played at Dorsey and y'all was I was like oh my god. And I was like, yo, I gotta I want to stay. I was trying to get kicked out of NBA camp so I can. I was so homesick because I knew that y'all was out there cracking, bro, and I swear to gun every day. I was homesick at NBA camp. I ain't even give a funk about like you know what I mean, Like the hoop ship was just like you know what I mean? It was just all I was thinking about, is what the fuck is this dude, Jamal Crawford and Lamar Fraser. And then the next time I saw you. The next time I saw you, Bro, the next time I really saw you, you popped up at Michigan. Yeah, And I reached out because I was like, yo, what happened to you know? Reached out because you're in the back court we go go Now. I'm like, oh my god, dude, this is all coming full circle here in the back court with Kevin Games at Michigan. I reached out. I was like, man, that's my where you been? Okay, Okay, I get it. I get it. We all were back who it will be we at hump camp. This is right before I come back to Seattle rocking. I'm like fifteen, I end up playing against me. The he locked me up so cold. Bro. It was I got the ball in open court and we can dribble right. He locked me up. Bro, it looked like there was a five minute presson was just him. He took it from you once. I gotta get He took it from me twice. I said, Yo, somebody else can get this ball more. No more. My point is I go home. And I said, you know what, He basically pumped me, took my heart. But you know, if you're fifteen trying to discover all these feelings, you don't know. You know what I'm saying. I'm like, I just know I never want to feel like that again. I'm gonna get my handle so strong, and I'm an own it so strong my confidence. If somebody ever run up on me like that again, I'm never letting it happen again. But he made me a better ball here, because I remember, I tell kids in my camp that to this day, Baron made me a better ball. And I'm like, bro, he embarrassed me. Lady drinking, I'm like, man, somebody else will get the ball. I'm coaching kids down. So I see that same fear sometimes when they're bringing the ball up and I'm like, no, it's okay. You just gotta own it. You gotta work at you gotta put your foot working with it, gotta like I'm telling them all these different things, and it took me back. So I had to tell him, and I like Baron, I called when I was talking to the the other day and I saw him be right there. I'll talk about Listen, you're one of the coldest players I've ever seen in my life. Bro, forty years of the league, high school, Like, you're on the coldest. I only care I'm not. It's the accolade that he didn't know what I'm watching right, Like Biggie Biggie dropped two outs, Bigge the code. It just like, well, I know what I'm watching. You know what I'm saying, Like if Bro, everybody from you can go down all the top point guards that came after him and stole something from me. I watched the highlight temple of the day. I'll speak to seconds into I look like a kid, like how much when I get it end? So to be on with y'all and see your journey. Who I know how you're growing. I know everything you get back to me and trade talk, bro. You know what I'm saying, Like everything you and LB and you guys do, Bro, it's you ain't can understanding until you see the next one's coming up. Like damn, that's the lineage, that's the legacy. You know what I'm saying. Like it was a tree, it had to be a tree and in the branches just grew. You know what I'm saying, Like on some real roles, they grew from the concrete type ship. Because this is this is altering. This is like like Jon Murray broke, he would have never been on his path if I didn't come to his life through you know what I'm saying, Like on some real ship, he being heavy heavy, And I'm saying, that's what y'all doing in l A. And that's why it's so special. That's why we gotta keep this going. And you know, I want to salute I want to salute you to mall into everybody's Seattle for taking care of Tary Easton yea Eastern l s. Sho is a monster right now. And I had to move to Seattle. He had to move to Seattle with his mom of course to take care of her dad. So during that whole time from high school, he is in Seattle. He used to come back to l A in the summer sometimes because Jay McK is his trainer, Jason McKinney play is his trainer. So when that's how I got the chance to really get cool with him. But I was like I was selling like mar John and when I was selling training them, and like Jamaal Williams even though jamar from this and that, but he made this, you know, in Seattle with that level by going to up so so I always like when I was talking to try, I said, dog like you are from my life. But Seattle took care of you. Yeah, yeaht took care. You gave you the ism. That's why you freaking crack into right right at it's a little for taking care of young Yeah you met you met Tar you was at the at our camp back house, said that like you just gotta you just gotta see him. He about to be a lot of you picked too. So he's a great young man, bro, great young man, like do everything the right way, work hard, local maintenance, want to learn. You know what I'm saying. Then when you tell him something he just don't listen. You go apply it, you know what I mean, So that he's different for sure. Yo yo yo, we gotta tap in real quick with let's here a quick word from our sponsors. Hey, mall, you gotta know, a mall. You really gotta know, mall what you really did for this. You gotta know, man, you gotta notice say something because I say, Hoopers, Bro, I'm gonna say something. But I got you know, I ain't never been. I mean we we had, we talked before more but yeah, I never told you though. But whenever you know, I got my chance or whenever I got to the NBA, like in my head, like you know, watching you play like your whole, your whole you know, career in what you did it off the bench, I was like, I want to be that player. I want to be Jamal Carport off the bench, like because you know, my game was like you're scoring on you come off, come off the bench and try to get and get busy right when you check in. So my mindset, I was like, man, that's my mindset when I mean, I'm trying to be Jamal Crawford off the bench, Like I try to analyze Dad and you know obviously bed of course, but like man watching you, it was man, didn't you He's off the bench, come on, man, But the thing But when you really, when you really got to extend though he coming out the bitch with hey with a long child, extend, when you really get to know more thought like you really you'd be like, God, he a better person. Oh man, He's the greatest human being world. Bro. Yeah, yeah, heart Radio, the king of the bottom. Look who was talking? Bro? There's a clip. There's a clip when you was on NBA TV and you was on Ticket Show and you were showing, um, how you did you you're wind up and it looked just like he did when he did it with his I'm like, damn, it looked so crazy the way he did it. You showed your wind up on Ticket Show. You're talking to Steve Smith wanted that ship. This is recently broke within the last year. Like I'm a roll man, I just played a whole career like twenty five times to see how Lord and his ship looks. B I used to hear stories about him at u c l A is a high school planning against Nick Van God. I'm just I studied him so cold, Bro, Nick van Exel, Lord, have mercy you took with you? You like Nick van Exel is uh he is he is the Bob. You are the king of Bob Nick van Exel, And I felt like Nick van Exel was in the wrong. Errand yeah, if I could see him, my wood man, oh my god, them too like jumped out at me. If you don't see them, If I if I could see Rod strickling, Hey, bro, roight, I had to tell Rod. I had to tell Rock, you know, right at the gym of the nine team. I had to tell Rod. I said, Bro, Hey, I'm sorry if you think every time I see you as an interview bro like, I'm sorry, bro like because Bro like, it's you like strictling. He'd be right there. That's what I'll be telling these dudes. Bro, You'd be right you right here. You feel what I'm saying. I'd be houndling that GP. I'd be like, GP, you know you're right here, Bro, Like you like standing in front of me, Doug. That's the real ship we feel that we all feel around them. It's how people feel around y'all. Now, Like that's crazy. So it'd be like when you see the kids man, cut it out. But you know exactly what they feel, because that's how you feel when you know what I'm saying. It's the same thing. Bro, It don't stop. And that's so dope about it. Like for me personally, I've always been connected to that kid that just I don't care for somebody. I passed the scoring, none of that ship. Bro. Then you gave me the vision, you gave me the drive. So when I see them, I always pays. We had Tim Hardaway on the show last night and he was like, now with pay and see you. I'm like, oh, this is airrate, Tim ha come on. It's like, come on, wrong, bro, this is we had. I got cards on my feet from ninth Greg because my feet was too big. Because somebody hand me some hand me downs. There was a half side smaller. I had to get those off. You know what I mean? You had to man, you have boom even to the point where I'm asking Paul Pierce because I'm always every time I played with a legend, I made sure I sat next to one of the plane. It was whether it was Paul with it was Gray Hill, whether it was Chauncey. I wanted to pick their brain and so I'm asking Paul, and Paul was like, yeah, he was cold when he was in sixth grade. Kay Swiss we played with Kay Swiss and he was like he was just cold killing me and he's telling me stories. So I'm always like, I want to know about the greatest because successfully these clues. You know what I'm saying, like what was he doing? You know what I'm saying, like what is he doing to think like this? What was he doing to play like this? Like? Who You've been so Cody lb Every time we played the Drew, I said, that's the one. You know what we y'all watch out for. Bro. He gets the shooting to make it. It was so effllence. He barely just leaving the ground catch fires over either one of them. Crack Pool cracked me in the Drew. I think I was done after that, dude, Remember that day you cracked this? Hey bro? Oh my god, he cracked. He got He got at me and the whole team. He just caught fire. And I was like, all right, fuck it, I got even Yeah, you know, you can't catch nobody. When they fourteen in, you know what I mean? He was like all right, boom bang bang. They had nobody on their squad either I was hot. I was hot man. I appreciate you. Po LB mall point Guy podcast. This is one for the books. We're coming back with this. We gotta have like a real mastermind. I want to bring Rashan Phillips into this and we're gonna figure out who's on the list. Yeah, we need to have an episode about who is on the list because there are some extremely cold ones that we just be leaving out, you know what I mean, And we may have not seen, but we need to figure out who is on this list. When I tweeted that the other day about you, you should see how much traffic it guy Man, he bro coming back, Steph on Marbred come Back. It's like all these dudes, It's like it's all these fans saying different things. So it's like, now the conversation is going you know what I'm saying, like, let's go tap me to check out what they was doing. And that's what we need, especially for this new generation. You know what time it is. You know, this show wouldn't be where it is if it wasn't for our sponsors. Let them have it. Oh yeah, hey, bro, we can do this all day. All day day. It's so much, by bro, It's so much, you know what I mean when we start thinking about just the essence, like you know what we need to do is a fucking West Coast documentary on you know what I mean, Like West West hoof documentary and do that ship like in parts right, we think about it. You can Seattle two parts open too parts I mean Oak Bay Area two parts l A, two parts boom, Yeah, two parts Docremento two parts Get one party say, I mean they got tell you Arizona. Yeah, the northeast. Yeah, because when I went to University of Portland and I really found out about the Northwest, I said, Homie, it is killers out here in Portland. Because I was with you, I said when I saw, I said, dang, it's Damon stout of mine. Okay, Brandon Brooks, Okay, you got Terrell, Brandon, Okay, I'm over like yeah rocking out here. Now you got Kayden Pritchard. Now you got t Ross. You know what I'm saying. Now you sho they got killers out there. They got Terence was my other kid, Terence uh um a little for Portland. Terence. He was left. He played for Houston for a minute. Tern Jones, Terence Jones, you got yeah, you got Terren Jones. Because at around that time it was eight miles and Mike Lea leave Stotto Meyer League. Oh my goodness, Selene. He was killer at nine camp when I was there killer, Hey Mar, what are year? So when you was in l A, wait, year was that? Bro? I was in there? So I was in there from all right? So I was from Seattle. I went to l A fourth and fifth grade. I went to I went to Daniel Freeman. You know, I came back. I said, my we was all we live in Inglewood. So came back to Seattle eighth the end of fifth to eighth grade, came back into eighth grade. I went to one Lane because I was in Inglewood, and then I was. I was there from eight to timp Craig. I came back from temp to twelve to finish up. So I went back and forth the whole time. So wait, so who was living in l A? My mom, my dad and his mom. So my dad and my grandma lived so beds. Grandma lived right around the way, and he would right there right so I would see him every now and then, and he knew Whopy you know who. Yeah, of course I was that who the barbershop literally every day because he lived a block. His barbershop was a block from my house. Really, bro, I'm in the barbershop. Me and Paul get into it. I'm like, he didn't want everybody talking about like he called he was a senior in Inglewood. Me at the shot, I'm a freshman. He looking for us to sin't you be in class? What you're doing here? Anybody used to skip class all the time because I was born to Dorset. So I saw Paul in there. I saw my leaf silly. I saw Poop Richardson, I saw Derek Martin. He took some money from the shooting dice one time. Then I came back. Who called me back, like, yo, come back to the shop. I'm like, man, ain't got no there more money. He took my money. You're like, now, I want you to meet somebody. It was Stephon Malbury. I don't know what the connection was with Hoop and Stephon Marbury, but I said with something Malbury And that's when he was about to go through the draft. It just finished. Jordan techis like, yeah, all a loop shot. So I used to go, uh I used to go up to seventy four because they had the Dunkles. I'll get there all the time, you know what I'm saying, like, Yeah, I was there, bro, Yeah I think I think you know. Uh And and as we wrap up, you know, this episode, this is this is probably one of the best episodes, spontaneous episodes. We gotta brand po LB. We got so much more l A basketball to talk about.
