Literacy refers to the capacity to read, write, speak, and comprehend both written and spoken language.
Numeracy is the ability to use and understand numbers, including basic math skills and problem-solving using numbers.
 There is a new literacy and numeracy curriculum for Years 1 to 10.
Share useful information from the Pacific PISA resource.
There will be an NCEA co-requisite requirement in literacy and numeracy that your child will need to attain. Learners can achieve the co-requisite at any time through their NCEA journey.
Teachers will continue to introduce new structured approaches to literacy and numeracy in the classroom.
Learning in the classroom needs to be clear, consistent and comparable to other countries.

To ensure our Pacific communities stay informed and connected, information is available in 7 Pacific languages, Cook Islands Māori, Fijian, Niuean, Samoan, Tokelauan, Tongan and Tuvaluan — as well as English.
