Cartier, Islamic Inspiration and Modern Design

From 19th century traditional shadow theatre and early silent movies to the 21st century gods of the screen, the exhibition presents the richness of the India’s image-making traditions alongside the influence of popular arts such as storytelling, dance, and theatre, and its close relationship with mythology and religion.

Bollywood Superstars: A Short Story of Indian Cinema

In this episode, we visit the exhibition Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity with the exhibition’s curators Sylvie Patry and Stéphane Guégan, respectively Chief Curator, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Collections at Musée d’Orsay, and Advisor to the Presidency of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie.

The exhibition brings together more than 150 masterpieces and features pioneering works by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Morisot, Cézanne... inviting visitors to explore why Impressionism was considered so shocking in the 19th century and how it paved the way for the artistic revolutions that were to come.

In this episode, we visit the exhibition Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity with the exhibition’s curators Sylvie Patry and Stéphane Guégan, respectively Chief Curator, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Collections at Musée d’Orsay, and Advisor to the Presidency of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie.
The exhibition brings together more than 150 masterpieces and features pioneering works by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Morisot, Cézanne... inviting visitors to explore why Impressionism was considered so shocking in the 19th century and how it paved the way for the artistic revolutions that were to come.
The exhibition Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity is on show at Louvre Abu Dhabi from the 12th of October 2022 until the 5th of February 2023.

المماليك: الإرث والأثر

نستكشف اليوم معرض "ما بعد الانطباعيّة: رؤيــة أعمـق" مع عائشة الأحمدي، مساعد أمين متحف في اللوفر أبوظبي.

يجمع هذا المعرض بين روائع أيقونية من فترة ما بعد الانطباعية، مع أعمال استثنائية معارة من متحف أورسيه، حيث يضم أعمالاً لفنانين مثل فان جوخ وسيزان وغوغان وسورات وغيرهم.

ولكن ما بعد الانطباعية هي أيضاً قصة رائعة لجيل جديد. انضم إلينا ونحن نتعرف على مجموعة من الفنانين الشباب الذين مهدوا الطريق لبعض الحركات الفنية الأكثر تأثيراً في القرن العشرين.

من خلال عدسة إبداعات كارتييه، سنرى كيف أصبحت الفنون الإسلامية مصدراً رئيسياً لإلهام المصممين الغربيين مع دخول العالم إلى الحداثة في مطلع القرن العشرين.

Dans cet épisode de “On Show”, nous découvrons l’exposition “Mamlouks : l’héritage d’un empire” en compagnie de Fakhera Alkindi, attachée de conservation au Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Les Mamlouks, une dynastie légendaire d’esclaves militaires devenus sultans, ont régné sur un vaste empire couvrant un vaste territoire allant de l’Égypte à la Syrie, entre 1250 et 1517. Connus pour leur puissance militaire, ils ont aussi marqué une époque de brillants échanges culturels et de réalisations artistiques.

Ensemble, nous nous plongeons dans le monde fascinant des fables animalières et leurs évolutions à travers le temps.

Dans ce nouvel épisode de notre podcast, Aisha AlAhmadi, assistante de de conservation au Louvre Abu Dhabi, visite l’exposition Bollywood Superstars : histoire d'un cinéma indien en compagnie des commissaires de l’exposition Julien Rousseau, conservateur du patrimoine et responsable des collections Asie au musée du quai Branly, et d'Hélène Kessous, anthropologue et spécialiste du cinéma d'Asie du Sud.

Présentant des extraits d'une quarantaine de films et plus de 80 œuvres d'art, Bollywood Superstars se penche sur les origines diverses du cinéma indien. Du traditionnel théâtre d'ombre du 19ème siècle aux dieux de l'écran du 21ème siècle, en passant par le cinéma muet, l'exposition explore la richesse de la tradition indienne de fabrication des images, l'influence qu'exercent sur elle des arts populaires tels que le conte, la danse et le théâtre, ainsi que les relations étroites qu'elle entretient avec la mythologie et la religion.
