“Breaking Barriers & Headlines” with Caroline Wilson

View descriptionShare

Living in Australia, you would have to be under a rock if you haven’t repeatedly heard Caroline Wilson’s name as an Award winning media journalist, who has dedicated most of her life’s work to sports journalism.

What’s been fascinating growing up with her name as the writer of some of Australia’s biggest sports stories, is the sense of ‘wow, how does she do it?!’.

Whilst Caroline doesn’t focus on the realities that gender play within her career, and more to the point focuses on getting the job done, a lot of women around her are in awe of her ability to break through often patriarchal barriers.

Caroline constantly remains resilient in what is often a rewarding career, but can also be challenging when breaking news stories. Meanwhile, managing to maintain a marriage and raise 3 children through out it all.

To understand the career, it’s integral to understand the person.

What was it growing up that gave Caroline the confidence to enter a male dominated industry, and never shy away from even the most challenging circumstances?

How does a women that is surrounded by regular career praise whilst sometimes simultaneously on the receiving end of work place criticism, return home and be a partner and mother to her children?

How does Caroline feel about the many hats she wears as a woman?
