00 - 10:36 - Luzerne County Community College President John Yudichak stops in the studio to tell Marcy about a plethora of new programs and opportunities available at the school to assist members in the community elevate their families and further their education. In addition to unique, community and family-based programs like the KEYS Program and AllOne Recovery Educational Institute, the institution is setting its sights on improving workforce development and adult education. LCCC is now a leading partner in the Technology and Trades Workforce Consortium, improving programs on workforce readiness and implementing initiatives such as the Career & Technology Academy - which will focus on following middle and high-schoolers through the trades - and micro-credential academy for those already in the workforce and looking to elevate their status. 10:37 - 20:08 - Rich Bradshaw from the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton drops in to let listeners know about their upcoming "Show us Your Stripes" 5K run, walk and Hot Rod car show on September 21st at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. The Ronald McDonald House in a nonprofit, founded in Pennsylvania and now expands worldwide, whose mission is to assist families while they are caring for their critically ill children in area hospitals. Families are able to receive care while in the hospitals, or stay nearby at the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton , and have everything provided to them free of charge so they can focus on what really matters during one of the most critical times in their lives. Bradshaw also announced plans to build inside of Allied Services to assist families working through physical therapy and other needs. 20:09 - 30 - Kevy, Kevin, Cassandra and Samantha Green join the show to discuss an upcoming benefit for 10 year old Kevin Green of Wilkes-Barre at Rodano's. Green was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer earlier this year, which has already progressed to Stage 4. He has undergone surgeries and is currently traveling daily for chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The family is hosting a T-Shirt sale now through September 1st, and will be holding a Courage for Kevy benefit at Rodano's September 21st - 2 days after Kevin's Birthday - to raise funds to help offset medical costs and bring together a show of support throughout the community while Kevy continues to fight.
