The Montrose County Jail underwent an $8 million, multi-phase overhaul, including a complete remodel of the booking and holding areas to improve functionality and safety. The project spanned seven years of planning and one year of construction, replacing cramped and outdated facilities with modernized spaces, such as a secure booking desk enclosed in glass and repositioned away from holding cells. The final phase of renovations, addressing the video courtroom, kitchen upgrades, and HVAC systems, is slated for completion by March.
