Today on In My Neighbourhood, we want to acknowledge a beautiful initiative from the running community following the tragic loss of Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo. The Sunninghill Striders Running Club are coming together at St Stephen’s Anglican Church in Sunninghill for a 4km run, wearing black, remembering a fellow runner and standing together in support of her family and loved ones. It’s a heartbreaking reminder that something as simple as going for a run can feel frightening for many women — but it’s also encouraging to see people coming together rather than allowing fear to divide them. We want to find out how other running, walking and community groups are looking out for one another and making their spaces safer.
