As the former Wisconsin and American Honey Queen, Hannah Sjostrom is used to getting questions about bees. And she certainly welcomes those questions as she tries to grow interest in beekeeping. Hannah is also working on an expansion plan for her beekeeping business. Her family’s third-generation apiary in Maiden Rock is called Honey Hill Apiary. She's working to grow the 300 hives into a full-time job in the future. At the same time, she's monitoring drought conditions to make sure her bees have enough forage, and keeping pests -- varroa mites and bear -- out of her apiary. Hannah reminds consumers that you’ll know your honey is from Wisconsin if you buy it from your local honey producer. Some producers also have the Something Special from Wisconsin label that you can look for at the store.
